Are there similar numbers of deaths in places where people go on the piss, where bodies of water are in the vicinity? Amsterdam for example? If not what are the reasons?

Birmingham has a lot more canals than Manchester however it has far fewer deaths

There is no doubt in my mindset that water and artificial highs do not mix . We have just returned from walking the Rochdale canal from Todmorden to Walsden and we never even fell in. We came very close a few times because of irresponsible cyclists forgetting to ring their bell but that is to be expected because they think the world revolves around them with their fancy helmets and head cameras they use to gather evidence to prosecute the unwary. To be fair we met a very friendly cyclist with a bell who had reasonable control of his trike on the way back between lockgate number 24 and 25 at the Copperas Aqueduct and he kept going on about jibbing and we said are you from Manchester and he was and so we got into convo about football and it transpired his mother was scouse and his dad a blue and wished us well for midweek.

Bath has very similar deaths of students falling in river Avon after a night out. No conspiracy here just kids off their faces and inadequate safety in place.
