51 in 3 years over there. The killer must like pot and brasses too.
They have 165 canals covering 60 miles in Amsterdam compared to 4 over a couple of miles in Manchester. Birmingham is a better comparison

Exactly - given that there are more deaths here than Amsterdam despite the difference in amount of canals it give credit to the theory rather than detract from it. Especially given what goes on in Amsterdam.

Im not sure the comparison to Birmingham is valid either as I think Birmingham has far more milage of canals than us.

Birmingham has more canals than Venice or Amsterdam (in terms of overall length).

There do seem to be an extraordinarily large number of people drowning in Manchesters' canals, and I read recently a homicide expert state a serial killer could be at work in Manchester.

The police dismissed it of course, saying there were no obvious connections between the drownings, but if you were an intelligent killer, knowing the police look for 'connections', then surely you would change the way you operate?

I'm no criminal expert, far from it, but I find it slightly disturbing the police are not looking into at least the possibility of a mass murderer at work.

We do, after all, have an incredible number of dead bodies being found in our local canals, and far more than common sense would consider normal.

And by denying him the recognition he wants, GMP may encourage him to do something that goes beyond his usual boundaries and give them a bit more to work with?

Don't you watch Criminal Minds FFS ;-)

Doesnt serial killers "always" look for some sort of recognition at some point? Maybe bbh (OP) is...

Agreed the OP is suspicious, he definitely should be looked at as a possible suspect.

I called this a few years ago on here . I think there was another 'victim' before Christmas. Somebody is killing people in Manchester and hopefully now it will get looked at seriously.

If this "serial killer" has pushed 60 people in the canal and the cause of death was drowning (i.e. they weren't clocked on the bonce), then surely there must also be a number of people who have reported being pushed in by someone, but managed to get out.

The canal's only about 5 feet deep and I fell in when pissed on a barge trip years ago and it sobered me right up.
