Sevilla away sold out!

Come on, you can't surely believe that?

Supporters club gets 10% of the allocation.
Sponsors and corporate will receive around 5%.
I know someone who works for the club, who doesn't receive free tickets.
I know someone who plays for the club, they receive free tickets, but it's a demand basis rather than a given allocation. I'd guess that there are no more than 20 fans who've received free tickets to an average away game - in Europe I doubt any player will take them, and if they do they would be in the posh seats they have to offer us.
I'd reckon this game will have around 80-85% general sale - but most people will be getting tickets off their mates who hadn't booked flights.

I don't have a problem with the supporters clubs because they helped me get up to the level where I can buy my own tickets.

I think a better way of doing it would be a united/England type 'collect your tickets at the game' for Euro trips. That way people can't buy tickets for their mates (because you need ID to pick them up). They should also let people sign up for tickets, well in advance of receiving the allocation from Seville. Everyone who wants to go should register as soon as the fixture is announced, then they get a reservation number - if they are number 2,999 and they know there is a good chance we'll get 3k tickets, they should go ahead and book their flights, if they are number 5,000 they know it's probably not worth booking travel!

I am glad there aren't many who think like you then!! 1,400 went on sale by the way (that's 62%).

That's a good suggestion but to go back to the numbers of tickets available, we got 2250 and the club are reportedly holding back 900 of those. So that's 40% not going on general sale. Sponsors alone will get 5% at least and anyone with an executive box or seat in Joe's will be able to buy tickets. Bet at least 300 go that way. Then the club have promised Thomson Sport that they'll provide enough tickets to fill a plane so let's say they take a 250 seat plane out and only 50 get tickets through general sale, that's another 200. It all adds up. That's the way it is these days unfortunately. It's the price of being where we are. I wonder how many going to Seville were at Sunderland the other week?

I'm going to Seville, my SC Branch got my ticket for me using my Supporters Number which has enough points for any away game, like many in our branch - convenience is the main thing here - not blagging tickets for those with not enough points

No problem with supporters clubs getting tickets. I am not in one but know that most who are are hard-core fans who have followed City for years. If you want to get a ticket you can always get into any match. There will be no problems getting into the Seville end. I got in the home ends easily in Pilzen, Midgetyland, FC Copenhagen, and Hamburg. There were loads of City in the Monchengladbach sections and at the Camp Nou last year. If you are determined you can always find a way. If anything the Champions League is easier for tickets than the Europa because there are lots of plastic neutrals knocking about. Let's see how quickly the Juve away tickets go?

So your happy in days gone you got tickets thru the club there you were not entiltled to through the normal points system process?

The system as I understand it is that members ask the branch for tickets, the branch tell the club how many they want, they get an allocation and then decide who gets the tickets/points. If it looks like being popular, the branch will tell members with enough points to get their own tickets through normal channels.

The OSC ticket system is a hangover from the days when the club struggled to sell tickets, it was easier to send a block of tickets to one person in the days before online and telephone sales and to ensure people from the branch could sit together. The first two conditions don't apply any more and it's easy enough to use Friends & Family to ensure people get tickets together.

But the main problem these days is not demand or distribution but that so many tickets are spoken for before they even go on sale to ordinary fans. Club staff, players, sponsors, corporates, the premium seat holders, who will all get first dibs, and supporters clubs. I bet no more than 50% of the available tickets actually go on sale to ordinary fans.

That, in a nutshell. People of a certain age can remember when we used to have very average away support and SC's were the lifeblood of the away support we had. I wouldn't call it a hangover, it should be seen as a reward for when the SC's were going and the "normal supporters" weren't. Bashing SC's is bashing loyal match going Blues, which is wrong on every level.

PS Our branch requested 8 tickets for the swamp and were only given 4, the recipients of which had the level of points required by the Club.

Chances are they haven't got tickets themselves. That post is very inflammatory when worded the way it is.

There's likely to be a small group within that SC branch who have 13000+ points. Those who have the points and are not going will likely be helping out fellow blues/mates by letting them use their tickets.... in the same way we all have mates (Outside of SC) who have loads of points, who let other people use their card to get tickets. Theres no difference, other than the fact that they are part of a SC. Unfair to tarnish supporters clubs like that.

Its a blatant and coordinated flouting of the system. I joined one just to do it and now have a ticket for sevilla - Do me!!!!

Got 13400 points. Didn't get a ticket for the Derby and Didn't get a ticket for this. Probably wont bother going Platinum next season as not much point if they're syphoning off 1000 tickets to corps every big game.
