Shakhtar(H) - Post Match Thread

Fernandinho absolutely bossed that game. Probably his best game for us. What. A. Fucking. Player

Didn't one of the tabloids list him as a flop of the season when we signed him

Said that word for word to my mate tonight: His best ever game for us. The way he was spraying passes around from deep was incredible. The way his passing has improved to complement his tackling/battling is elevating him to world class level. He is entering the annals of club hero/legend now.

Yet another player Pep has improved. When he joined us he wasn’t even supposed to be a holding midfielder.

Good performances all round. Couple of loose balls from Zinchenko and some clear chances not taken by Jesus but not much else to complain about. Bit of a stroll really.

Watched the game on TV as I’m Swedish, but felt that the atmosphere was different and one of the better CL nights at the Etihad. Boos were drowned out by singing, the atmosphere was good and people seemed to stay til the game was over. Was that the feeling by people watching live as well? Maybe the tide is turning which is great because we can really win this competition, we are that good!
From my seat in 102 the atmosphere was very good for most of the game, hardly any quiet periods. South stand were great. It felt there was a more positive feel to the game tonight and no coincidence we recorded our biggest cl win.

Thought Shaktar defended decently despite getting battered but our press wore them down. Our shorting passing around the box was a little off which I think was down to their good play at the back. Mahrez had a slow start with nothing seeming to come off for him until he got the assist. The diagonals to him from Zinchenko seemed to be working really well until we stopped doing it. Penalty was embarrassing for the officials.

With the riches in the premier League more teams could play like them with their bravery at the back. Always disappointed to not see Foden. A massively professional and accomplished performance to score 6 and not be at our best

I was in the top tier of the Colin Bell where you get a good overview of the atmosphere. It was quite unique tonight. It was a big crowd with a lot of tourists, coach parties etc. The south stand seemed to make a concerted effort to improve things and sung lots. Well done to them. But the songs didn’t catch on round the ground too much because of the different mix of fans.

Overall it felt a happy stadium and I suspect we gained some new fans tonight.

Deffo felt positive with little booing which pleased .me. As for tourists there seem to be a growing number - especially far east- these days, at least in the East Stand.

Well next to no visiting fans which is a shame but understandable. The visiting away fans can be brilliant on CL nights.

It was a very big crowd which was great to see and season ticket holders were in the minority. Mostly new fans and a lot of young families. Lot of foreigners which is good to see. I am glad that they are comfortable going to a football match. The atmosphere was OK, but it was a bit too easy and relaxed as I knew it was going to be a big win from quite early on and the game loses some edge then.

Aha yes that was weird as hell! Didnt the South Stand start singing 'what the f.h is that'? before joining in themselves waving their lights! Bit like a Spandau Ballet concert
