Sheffield Wednesday

Danny Cowley? Did an amazing job with the Imps before being poached by Huddersfield. Kept the Terriers up but fell out with the owners and was sacked. Started well with Pompey but fell away a bit. Sacked in third season after run of defeats. Might not fancy the owner though bearing in mind what happened at Huddersfield

He was brilliant at Lincoln, but he runs a large budget for his squad.

Lincoln wouldn’t part with anymore money once we made League One and we needed to find other ways to invest and sustain the squad. Huddersfield wouldn’t dip into their pockets, and I can’t see Wednesday’s owner doing the same.

Yeah that was part of what I was alluding to on the money issue. Didn't realise there was a similar problem at Lincoln though. I think he's still held in quite high regard around here. Imps are about as high a level as they can sustain without a rich owner coming in. The Owls are a bigger beast altogether. Huddersfield on Saturday and the return of Big Darren. Could be interesting

It was quite common knowledge that he wanted more players but our chairman didn’t want to invest for a third or fourth straight season. Lincoln had come from the brink of administration again to managing to function again, and Clive Nates has done a lot to contribute to grow the club to its healthiest position since the 70s. Not sure it was much a disagreement, more that Cowley saw the bigger potential at Huddersfield and more money than we could ever have offered him, so don’t blame him.

Most Lincoln supporters would take him back in an instant if it went tits up with Kennedy.
