I haven't missed the boat have i?

Sorry i'm a bit late but i was just rounding up supplies.

What you got?

A few barrels of mead, some hard tack and a years supply of porn.

You'll need more than a year's supply

really?More than a year?Oh of course...science proved that the earth was round and NOT flat as most theologians would have made you believe so therefore our journey will be longer as we are NOT going to fall off the end of the world.

Righto...

The Bible enjoins us to “try to give a reason for the hope that is in you”.

I kicked off this thread to counter and to give an opportunity for reflection to some of those strident voices I encountered in, The Genius of Charles Darwin & The God Delusion, No Blue Heaven For ElanJo, Darwin’s Dangerous Idea, Did Darwin Kill God? God Is Not A Jerk? and (most recently and memorably)
Is Religion a Load of Balls?

Well farewell my foolish fellow blues. I wish you God speed but hardly bon voyage.
You clearly find the prospect of the journey to purposeless oblivion an attractive proposition.

Some of you proudly believe that generations of the faithful throughout the world have simply failed to notice what you have all grasped so quickly, bravely and brightly in your short lives.

That the world is so awful there can be no God and any pretence to the contrary is just a cowardly delusion. Encouraged by the corrupt elites, human beings are so stupid, so weak and so gullible as to believe anything. So unlike your good selves.

Even the appalling Richard Dawkins, whom many of you seem to regard with such affection, baulks at the emptiness of this vision and speculates that the gift of sentient life is a reward from alien visitors.

I’ll leave you with the words of Leonard Cohen (again):

Jesus was a sailor ...only drowning men can see him...as he sinks beneath your wisdom like a stone.

God gave humans the power of free choice and free thought, so if we choose to think he doesn't exist, he only has himself to blame.

I am still awaiting my apology for your scurrilous accusations of yesterday!

BTW what do you consider to be a short life? And you make presumptions about the posters yet again.

Furthermore the whole point of Darwin is evolution, therefore I would suggest that our merry crew have evolved beyond the narrow-mindedness of previous believers and a million miles away from bigots.

To some 'that the world is so awful' is because of the pursuit of some people's gods. And I, sir, am no coward.

It is 'your opinion' of Dawkins, not widely agreed on here.

In the words of John Lennon 'we are bigger than Jesus'.

Now stop pestering those with an intelligence to work out for themselves how to live their lives, and go and pontificate in your cellar, after all you are always right.
