Ship of fools

i find this thread sadly ironic.

the absolute bullshit that jonny has come out with has managed to bait every atheist within a 10 mile radius.

giving creedence to the drivel this 'man' has come out with only encourages him, and to try and have a mature reasoned discussion with someone whose mind closed a good few years ago just plays into his hands.

rule 1 on the god botherers handbook is court discussion and controversy within the nontheists/atheist camp and maybe you will get a convert. no discussion or debate means no converts, and the most easily converted are the stupidest.

i KNOW that this man is wrong spiritualy, ethically, morally and logically. in his defence tho, i know its not his fault - its what he has been taught by other cult members.

maybe it is time to put him and his mates in a ship of fools and sail him off. bye, bye jonny.

LOL, but agree with you. Cult member - ha ha
However, Mr Crossan wasn't the only contributor, there have been one or two half intellegable comments from other believers.
Fortunately, I hadn't come across Mr Crossan before but I soon realised there would be no chance of a reasoned debate with him. He seems the type of person (ie a knob) who just drops his little 'grenade' and sits back and sniggers as it kicks off, and just as it dies down, he does it all again.

I have enjoyed reading other peoples' views though (and insulting Mr Crossan)

To be frank I think the exchanges with the virulent and thick are getting in the way of the interesting stuff on this thread.

By the way, I notice you haven't called me a moron for a while. Truly I'm grateful for your more measured recent contributions but I worry they may be tactical and merely a precursor to another crushing attack.

On the subject of why God is hidden, and there are some who say He isn't, I'm with St Matthew:

You seem to have completely ignored what I wrote.

As for insults, I can't be expected to remember every conversation you and I have had but I do not believe I have ever just jumped on you, calling you a moron or a fool etc, without atleast giving my reasons. You, however, have attacked me and others, without a hint of an explanation, plenty of times. I welcome people calling me names , I'm not a baby, but on one condition - there's some explanation/reasoning behind them.
Overall I think I have been extremely measured with you. The only times I have lost my cool is when you refuse to answer questions, skirt issues and/or incessantly quote others. If you won't have an honest debate with someone who differs from you then really you shouldn't be making threads such as this one or "Elanjo's blue heaven" etc.
