Shooting / Rioting in Paris

He didn't say it was fair, he said it was avoidable. Which is absolutely correct. Why try to drive off? Stevie Wonder could see that was a stupid thing to do. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
I asked him if he thought it was fair. IE right to shoot someone for just driving away from the police.

The reason for driving off is irrelevant. A person could have misunderstood the request, foot slipped, panicked. Or could have done it to just run away.

All of those reasons he could have been shot. Is that right..?

Without knowing the full facts of the case, it's impossible to say. If he was shot just for driving off, THAT seems harsh. Hopefully, all the facts will come out.

Maybe the facts when they come out will show he had a gun or bomb, or threatened to run the police over. But maybe his foot did slip, or he didn't understand the language.

So the default action shouldn't be to shoot people for just driving away. I think that's common sense to be fair.

Setting what scene? Running away?

And if he did have something to hide (Drugs maybe), should the response be shoot him?
If he drives off quickly yes... could have been drugs, could have been a gun, could have been a bomb... who knows?

In the climate where there in rioting going on of course you have to stop him.

So you'd be perfectly content to see him waved through only to potentially commit more (potentially worse) crime down the line. Fair enough, on that we will disagree.

..... If only he hadn't tried to get away eh. No sympathy from me I'm afraid.

Yes. What crime? He hasnt done anything yet besides drive away. You seem to have decided he IS a criminal?

But yes lets disagree to agree.

The riots happened afterwards btw, unless I missed something?
