Shooting / Rioting in Paris

He wasn't running, he was in a car a car that he was previously driving dangerously leading up to the incident. A car can be uses as a weapon.

Running away on foot is completely different.
Yeah but the car wasn't being used a weapon. It was joyriding.

In effect what you're advocating is that anyone in a car that doesn't stop, or drives away, should be shot. Or could be.

Seems wrong to me, and I'm sure that this police officer will be convicted. Which again is a shame because he didn't do it on purpose.

It's panic afaic. Everyone loses.

Anyone know why the police in France carry weapons? Had it always been like that?

Since the terrorist attacks back in 2016 iirc, they then allowed them to carry weapons.

Most of ours are tbf, they have access to firearms in patrol vehicles.
Ah, just like Norway then, they also all have access to them in their vehicles. Still count's as unarmed on that list since they don't constantly carry them around.
