Should Dzeko start on Sunday?

Exeter Blue I am here said:
Start? He should be boiled for fucking glue. Souness has just lambasted him and rightly so. Alright when he's got oceans of space in front of him, but one of the worst forwards you'll ever see with his back to goal. Everything bounces off his shins, nothing sticks and his failure to get his body between defender and ball verges on the fucking criminal.
Yes he didn't do good vs Villareal, but neither is Nasri or Silva. FFS KUN looked horrible except for that tap in. He is not in form?? He just bagged two for Bosnia in 4 days. Wtf are you people expecting?
Dzeko is the worst forward with his back to the goal???/? WTF? Get your facts straight.

"forum fans" aka "keyboard managers" should be fucking happy for that 3 points.

people are giving dzeko too much stick on here although I agree he didnt hold the ball up well. anyways, I would deffo play balo as the main striker with aguero off of him, or perhaps bring aguero on for johnson or the like. Milner must start the derby, me thinks.

no way should we play him again.he cant control a ball,

So our Manager decided to shell out 28 million with the blessing of our chairman on a player who according to you cannot control a ball. That would explain our lowly league position and paltry goal difference.

That's a damning indictement on the state of our club. Perhaps you should find a different one.

No, bring him in off a substitution at about the 60' mark for Aguero (since he's still recovering). Dzeko scored a few for Bosnia in the past week so I don't think he's off form just a little unlucky. If his finishing was back to his standards I don't doubt he would have scored much more often. His positioning and movement have been good for both City and Bosnia which, for me, is 90% of the battle. Just got to work a little on the finishing, as I've said.

With all the new additions the team is still gelling, though I know how much some of you hate to hear that...

And I can't express how happy I am that Kolarov is crossing them into the box finally -- we've needed someone like that for a while.

No, he shouldn't start. For God sake, he survived the war, so he will survive one game on the bench :) Maybe he learns something for it. He can and has to do better.

Well he did have 5 shots, 2 on target. The one he needed to make count was when we beat the offside trap and he tried to place it with his foot but sent it into the keepers hands. He probably didn't realise how much time he had as he probably could have controlled it.

He will find his form again, I believe what I said on another page, its rare to have three strikers on form at the same time. Remember when Rooney started playing like a Sunday league player for the rags and suddenly Berbatov played well. Now Berbatov is nothing and Rooney is the form man again. I think Balotelli and Dzeko will take turns having slips of form because its hard to see Aguero ever losing form for too long, he just knows how to find the right positions to score. :D

5 attempts... 3 on target.. unlucky with the sweeping half volley.. the keeper made a great save... another great save from the one on one... on another night he would have bagged 3 goals....

Not all players respond to the "rotation" approach equally.

I'm not making excuses for Dzeko's heavy touches vs Villareal but strikers can go through lucky patches (e.g. 4 goals vs Spurs) and lean patches where nothing quite goes in.

Look at Diego Forlan at Utd...looked awful but arguably one of the outstanding players at the 2008 WC for Uruguay + twice top scorer in Spanish league with Villareal + then A. Madrid.

Balotelli + Aguero clearly both able to make a contribution coming off the bench or playing in selective games....
....but maybe Dzeko needs that regular run of games to build up his confidence + his touch + his goals.

Bottom line: I like Dzeko, but have this nagging feeling that his career with City is destined to be very stop-start...and that he might be better off at the sort of club where he gets to play nearly every week ( Villa / Newcastle etc)
