Theoretically, yes. However by the time you've laden it with caveats around "supporting Dad's/Mum's/other relative who was/is from Manchester's team you end up rendering it redundant.

Born in Leicestershire but supported City since aged 7, I think because I loved the kit in 1977 and that we'd won the league cup the year before.
It takes a hell of a lot more effort supporting City when it's a 200 mile round trip to every home game, so I would say that I am definitely a worthy supporter!!
