elano wants hughes out

He most probably does.

But it's not showing in his form or demeanour at the moment.

It's been a welcome return to form, and while I would still have him on the "questionable" list for next season he is doing a good job of convincing me that we must keep him at the club.
so you think hes done well this season do you? and thought he did well today? he did cock all today, i can understand him taking elano off, but cant understand him putting fernandes on

did enough to win mom and played a good game, if you just dont like elano be honest but dont say he played bad when its quite clear he didnt
ive said he was brilliant on thursday, one of the best games ive seen him have, im not elanos biggest fan, fantastic footballer, shite attitude, and how he won MOM today is beyond me, it might just be me but i really dont know how he won it

At times.
We also bossed the game at times with two dm's and Elano on, which probably contributed to him being named MoM?

At the time of the sub and for a good ten minutes maybe before they looked more likely to score than us. Elano played well, not disputing that but he would be the sacrafice i would make if i wanted to shore it up a bit

agree 100% with johnmc,

from the os ...

Elano's tough week has also taken its toll. Some fans booed the decision to bring him off 15 minutes from time against West Brom, but Hughes explained: "He was struggling, and he's sat with ice packs all over his body now."

also, the substitution with regards to fernandes owes just as much to a lack of talent on the bench. it cant have been too bad a decision seeing as though we won.

petrov? stick robbie in a free role? thats where i think he is best, wasted abit on the wing i think

clinging on to a game and you want to make an offensive sub and change the shape of the side. Also baring in mind that Petrov was gonna replace robbie at some point which would have then meant another reshuffle

some of the so called supporters near me do nothing but slag the team off from the first minute.an absolute disgrace to our club.

Elano had a good game, no problem with taking him off. My beef is why Hughes sends on Fitzroy's double. He was no good when we were in the second division so definitely still crap in the Prem.

Gelson provided an extra body defensively and a bit of energy in a game where ours was sapped from Thursday night. Especially to help out Zab on the right.

Petrov provided two key balls, one of which led to the goal.

Sturridge scored a goal and should have had another and provided one for Ireland.

They each contributed, to varying degrees. We won the game for the short time Gelson was on the pitch.

I was probably unfair saying 1 of 3. I thought Petrov was a good one, and Sturridge certainly did contribute (although I thought he was poor and we would have done just as well leaving Caicedo on.

Yet we increased our lead.

I honestly don't get it.

Hughes makes subs and we lose = wrong tactically

Hughes makes subs and we win = wrong tactically

No, you misunderstand. No sub is a guarantee of a win or a loss, if Hughes makes the right sub he will not be criticised for it. If Hughes makes the wrong sub he will be. You'll note that there has been no criticism of the Petrov for Robinho substitution, surely that should tell you that people are questioning the actual substitutions made, not the person who made them.

Elano was quality, but even with 2 DMs we were being outrun. Do we just carry on with the status quo and hope they don't score?

3 DM's didn't make us stronger defensively IMO. It goes down to the question whether stacking the defence is the best way of keeping attacks out, or are we better served holding onto the ball, and maintaining an attacking threat in case the opposition does get too far ahead of themselves. For me, I would have left Elano on, if he wasn't fit enough to continue I would have made a straight swap with Petrov.

true mate agree with that, why take both our creative players off though in elano and robbie? leave one on who is always capable of abit of magic, and id have robbie on anyday over elano

I thought Elano did well today, was a good contributor to the win (including winning the penalty, scoring the penalty, couple of quality set pieces including one we scored from. Hardly cock all).

A bad decision over a sub is not made a good decision just because we won. Against better opposition the result might easily not be a win. Remember the Liverpool game when Fernandes came on?
