Imo we definitely need a centre back and with Yaya away at the ACON then arguably we need cover for him especially if NDJ doesn't sign a contract. Martinez can play both those positions, personally I'd love us to sign him. He's young with plenty of resale value so for me it's a no brainer.

I don't know how many matches he will miss but we definitely missed him last ACON. We need a centre half, Savic NEEDS to be moved further away from the pitch, I'd rather pay the extra and get someone who can also play the holding role to a very high standard than go out and get Agger.

Not a world class player and is not a player that has perfected a position really. A good player who's biggest attribute is qaulity in various roles. I like him but at anything over £25million he is a rip off. Paying £35million would genuinely piss me off. He simply isn't worth taht amount of money.

We need someone who can play behind him so he can push up the field more.

Agreed but to put into context, Senegal crashed out early and Ivory Coast finished runners up. We can live and hope though ;)

If NDJ doesn't sign a new contract then surely there is a good chance he will be leaving in the next week or so. Judging on last season then Barry is incredibly important to us although at some point one would imagine he will start showing his age. Rodwell is a good option albeit a bit inexperienced. And as you say, regardless of ACON, it would be nice to be able to play Yaya further forward without worrying about who's playing infront of the back four. I think getting another holding midfielder would be good especially one who plays centre half to the same high standard.

Ye I was just using an example we will be rotating with Rodwell, Barry maybe De Jong and possibly a new midfield all through the season.
