Great the only player I wanted City to sign this summer. Oh and I've read somewhere that Javi paid 10 million himself.

Set to complete 40 million move to Bayern

Antonio Sanz, representative of Javi Martínez; No truth behind Bayern Munich deal, and his player will continue with Athletic.
What was Danamy saying this morning?

Was hoping he would move to Bayern so Mancini can turn around and say "Look, just fucking get me fucking De Rossi, for fuck sake".

Hopefully the club will be looking to make a statement before the end of the transfer window to reassure everyone we're the big swinging dicks around here.

BILD's vice dditor-in-chief was the one who turned up with the news so I suppose the deal is 99% done. He wouldn't go as far as claiming the deal done if it wasn't the case. BILD did that once in the past and got strictly critcised for that. Not only by Bayern officals but their own readers as well. Some young editor just trusted the wrong informant back then. If something like that was to happen again they'd lose what little credibility they have left and the vice editor-in-chief would expose himself to public critisism as well.

Apart from that BILD is usually well informed when it comes to Bayern's business and looking at the Martinez news in german media in recent weeks BILD seemed to lie in wait just to drop the bomb at the right time for they barely covered the topic recently which seemed rather odd looking at their usual coverage of Bayern related news. Other papers like the "TZ" for example which is rooted in Munich as well as BILD tried a more offensive approach and two days ago claimed to know the approaching end of negotiations between Bayern and Bilbao to be within the next 48 hours. But instead of jumping the bandwagon it seems BILD wanted to be the first paper to announce the deal done. Supposedly all that's left is the spaniards signature to close the deal.

Really a shame we didn't go for Martinez. But I'm looking forward to see the Schweinsteiger/Martinez combo. With Kroos in front of them and Ribery/Robben on the wings their midfield should be considered one of the top 3 in Europe. Nasty to play against since their posession play will only get better now and with Ribery/Robben/Kroos/Muller/Shaqiri they got some serious fire power around the box. Add to that Gomez the poacher, Mandzukic who's good in the air and Pizarro who's strength is link up play, they got a wide variete of strikers to choose from. Their defence with Badstuber, Boateng, Lahm and Alaba is up to international standards as well. Looks like a well balanced team with midfield being their greatest asset. Squad depth still nowhere as good as ours but they improved compared to last year.

Their best lineup should look something like this now:

GK: Neuer
LB: Alaba
CB: Boateng
CB: Badstuber
RB: Lahm
DM: Martinez
CM: Schweinsteiger
OM: Kroos
RW: Robben
LW: Ribery
ST: Gomez/Mandzukic

Bench:
GK: Starke
LB: Contento
CB: van Buyten
CB: Dante
RB: Rafinha
DM: Gustavo, Tymoshtchuk
CM: Can
OM: Muller
RW: Shaqiri
LW: Weiser (looking forward to that one, great winger)
ST: Gomez/Mandzukic, Pizarro

I don't think there has been any real evidence we were in for him this summer. Then again the only real evidence this summer is that we walked away from Hazard, we have bought Rodwell and been closely linked with Sinclair and Agger. All the discussion re RVP, De Rossi, Martinez and Cavani et al has been from so called ITKs.

With this line-up you would get killed in the real FC Bayern forum. Apart from some sun shiny days in the CL group stage where luck came to his hand Kroos is about the most hated player especially as he seems to be the loved muppet of the coach who has not earned it, has less sprints than Neuer has in most of the matches and half of the intensive runs Schweinsteiger and of the Dortmund midfield players have. If he looses the ball he does not run after it - when somebody steps on his feet he only works behind the middle line, slows down the match and does not have much assists or goals apart from standards. When he played the ten in the first half of the season, when Robben was injured he only had 2 assists out of match play in the Bundesliga. Kroos plays as static as Gomez does - and together with Robben and Ribery as wingers it is just does not fit. Robben still has to make his first good match in this constellation.

With Schweinsteiger injured (and Gomez) we saw some real great test matches where we had a very good organised front with Robben, Ribery, Müller and Mandzukic (and partly Shaqiri) changing their places all the time, like this being a constant threat for the opponent - and it really was fun again - like in the best matches we played the recent two-three years. Robben seems to be really back and has been a very good assistant, Müller is scoring for fun again, Mandzukic makes goals and assists, too - and Ribery is his usual self. Dortmund did not like that very much last weekend either...
