And both about as close to unobtainable as footballers can be in this day and age :p

Muller is just a fast James Milner, not that great dunno why he is being hyped so much, isn't a guaranteed starter for Bayern at all.

He played 53 matches for Bayern last year (only missed 2 - one in ManCity, one cup match against a 2nd league club) - and started 48 of it. He played in all but 3 matches for Bayern in the last 3 years (and started about 95% of them). And he played in all but one or two friendlies since his first match for Germany.

The only reason why he did not always start were tactical reasons. (and as a result Bayern did not score apart from set pieces in that occasions - he is needed)

Why he is hyped so much? He is one of the best players in the world without the ball, is very smart, has a high work rate, has a very great mentality, makes his fellow players better and has stats in that age most players never have in their career.

He is 22 and already has played in more than 30 CL matches and has 32 caps for Germany.

And yes, he is unobtainable - especially for the amount mentioned above. It is not only the sports side - it has a lot to do with marketing and marketing partners, too. It does not even matter if he would like to go - they would not let him. He is apart from everything else Bayern's best marketing instrument - especially for the partners of Bayern, the big multiinternational companies that try to work new markets in China or India. The German clubs do not make tso much money with entrance fees or TV money - but a lot with marketing. Müller is known everywhere, is a positive figure, very young, very Bavarian... - a lot more than anybody else of the Bayern players.

good post

Marquee Signing before Southampton

The problem with Milner is he can't run.

I agree - for someone who covers every blade of grass on the pitch, he's not very mobile.

Jeff Whitley & Stevie Lomas - now they had fantastic engines.

Perhaps if Milner gave up the fags, booze, late nights & partying we might have a player in the Michael Carrick/Tom Cleverley class.

You sound like you describing a fast james Milner with marketability (which I really don't care about)

The fact of the matter is he wouldn't get in our 1st 11 - he would be a good player off the bench but nothing more. Don't see why we would sign that kind of a player for that cost.

Re: Marquee Signing before Southampton

We should sign Muller. Should be avalable for about 15m (euros). OK he's not a massive signing but he'd be a decent replacement for Barry as he ages. Worst case he could play in the cups. We need to raid clubs like Bayern.

Probably is. He is entitled to his opinion but I think we can forget cherry picking any Bayern players.
