assuming all of our signings sign 4 year deals (it seems most do), quite a few will be up for new contracts this summer, as they'll have 2 seasons left starting in 2012-13. We have enough money not to create Nasri/RVP situations, but hopefully extensions for Silva, Yaya, Lescott (?), Barry (?) are on the horizon, not to mention Kompany and big Nige is overdue an extension.

I don't think that would have a bearing on extending our best players contract. This is a player coveted by every club in the Premier league and by the majority of clubs in Europe.
We wouldn't risk losing him over that, the money would be found.
