Wednesday will tell us a lot in terms of the teams commitment to the club and the manager.
I expect it will tell us next to f**k all, unless they don't turn up at all.

I fully expect that we'll put in a great fighting performance on Wednesday (and fail), but all that will tell me is that we have a lot of big time charlies in the squad.

We'll learn a whole lot more against WBA imho.

If we don't turn up on Wednesday, like we didn't at home to CSKA, what would your feelings be then?

For me that would say that the season is going to be a total write-off unless we do something decisive.

As big a risk as it would be giving Patrick the job would we really have an alternative?

I don't think it would change my opinion at all, I'm very much in the camp of wanting PV to manage the club eventually.

If we don't turn up on Wednesday, I'll be disappointed that even the lure of a 'big' game isn't enough to motivate the players any more, and it would cement my view that we need a clear out, I posted so back in October just before our good run, I haven't changed my mind.

Wednesday is a freebie all round, we're expected to fail, we'll most likely fail, a glorious defeat will still be a defeat, and if by some miracle we go through, then it will be a huge boost all round, but it changes nothing, and just proves that we have a bunch of players who think they can play when they want to.

WBA is a far more important date in our calender imho.

If we had changed the manager prior to Wigan Cup final we would have had a better chance of winning it.

Those in charge won't make the same mistake and drag this out and see the qualifying for the CL higher than winning a domestic trophy.

If they feel qualification is as most see at risk he will be gone sooner rather than later.

Definitely agree. Getting to a CL QF or SF is irrelevant if we don't qualify for next year's competition.
Any decision on the manager should be made in that context.

Burnley and Liverpool were equally important games too, and we showed a complete lack of intensity in those games.. Hopefully he/they realise that the Barca game is now an irrelevance for how the season will be defined, and treat it as such. We are not on their level, nor that of Bayern or Real, nor PSG from what I saw. This is now a League Cup tie, with the real deal happening against The Baggies. I wouldn't sack him over what happens against Barca, but should we fail to turn up against WBA due to over extending ourselves in that already dead tie, then I would vote "Yes".
