I would have to say yes, sadly, if either tactics or application are in question on Wednesday.

It might require something radical just to inject a shot of renewed optimism to stay in the top four in our remaining games.

The players have badly let down Pellegrini at times, but too many games remain for us to have the luxury of coasting.

Vieira isn't the immediate long term solution but if he is asked to make a dramatic impact, it could well prove right time right place, even if he were to become the eventual No.2.

We know better than anyone how freakish events can turn towards the run-in.

We have benefitted in the past, but who can say it won't turn against us.
I did say no, mainly because I do think we'll still finish in the top 3 with Pellegrini. I was using the logic of those run ins you speak of in a positive way but the truth is you have a point and we could quite easily be on the wrong end this year.
I'm still holding onto the belief that the quality of the team can get us through until the end in third (second at a push) but it's a belief that's been wavering recently.
It'd be interesting to get an idea of what PV is like on the touch line away from the EDS, when there's serious pressure to contend with and not the reletive anonymity he enjoys now. Him taking over and us dropping out of the top 4 could see his career in management knocked back years. There's loads of moving parts to consider in something like this.
Anyway I think it's a moot point. Pellegrini will see out this season. I see nothing that tells me otherwise when it comes to the people who make these decisions.
I just want the season over tbh so we can get to work on fixing the problems we have.

I would be interested in what evidence you think there is that he will turn things round in time.

Sadly I haven't got any.

I do think however Cleavers has outlined many valid reasons why installing Patrick at the moment isn't without risk.

Wednesday will tell us a lot in terms of the teams commitment to the club and the manager.

I expect a much better performance. We'll probably lose but there are many ways of losing.

Sorry which part of my points described "wanting his head" as knee jerk ? I think it is, but that's just my opinion, and it is nothing to do with the points I made as to why not PV now, which was your 'simple question'.

Maybe you should just reword your simple question, to "Do you want the managers head ?" You'd certainly have got more +ve responses that way.

He could have started one on whether Soriano should be sacked for his dealings in the transfer market and that still would have been the case.

Vieira isn't ready to step into the situation we're in right now, that's a time for experienced heads, not novices.

Not sure of your comment on Soriano but I know the difference between a CEO and a DoF.

Viera isnt ready to step in? Say's who? Was Pep ready all them years back? Probably not.

Txiki actually went to a lot of trouble to make sure Rijkaard stayed in charge until the end of the season so that Guardiola could have a fresh start the next season, Damo covered it on here I think. So to answer your question no, Pep wasn't ready.

You still would have gotten more yeses to that question though :)

Just been listening to Paddy on the OS and he mentioned a very valid point. Its great to have skill but to get into the first team you have to work. For that comment alone,Paddy would be my next City Manager.I just get the feeling he wouldn`t take shit off any player who didn`t pull his weight and bounce one or two egos.

Are you trying to get us ready for pellers getting sacked should the inevitable happen Wednesday?

I expect it will tell us next to f**k all, unless they don't turn up at all.

I fully expect that we'll put in a great fighting performance on Wednesday (and fail), but all that will tell me is that we have a lot of big time charlies in the squad.

We'll learn a whole lot more against WBA imho.

If we were in a situation to fight relegation with 9 games off, then definitely yes.
Since it is not the case, let Pellegrini prove that he is at least able to secure a CL spot with the squad he has been offered to manage.
And by the way, Paddy is not ready yet to coach an A-team, he will have to pop his cherry with a modest club first before applying here.

Yep, I'm expecting this too and strangely, I won't be entirely happy to see it.

His best one was when he challenged Richards after training on his poor attitude.

Asked if he wanted to be a top player, why he was always the first to leave the training ground?

Sadly, even Vieira couldn't turn water into wine with him!

Case still stands, he knows what it takes and his standing in the modern game even resonates with the current generation coming through.

Not that we should pander to the peanut gallery, but it would be fantastic one day for City to lead the way in this league by giving a black manager a chance at a club with real ambitions.
