Singing section/Atmosphere

Tonight probably isn't the game to be judging how well the singing section is working, the Bristol City fans were top tonight and they should have been when you consider how well their team played.

The problem is still where we should put the away fans. Giving them prime position right behind the goal isn't good but tonight when we shunted them up to a higher tier they just had better acoustics with not enough of our fans next to them to compete.

we dont need fans next to them to compete though. we've had away fans next to our singing bit for years now and it makes no difference. i think its better having just a whole end with just city fans, rather then what we have for league games.

yea your right. the whole atmosphere thing is doing my head in now. i think for a lot of people its becoming a big issue. we need to sort this out now and club needs to help out because its the same discussions going on here. some great suggestions, but when you get to the ground there are too many people that are robots. they dont react, cheer or sing to anything.

one of the main reasons i love going to football or always post on threads like this is because i like atmosphere and going to games and singing my head off. its becoming crap to go now in that regard.

Pep and and many players would enjoy a much louder support. Now Soriano, Txiki and Pep are visionaries and are developing a worldwide operating CFG Group.
I simply have no idea why they are able to forget a fundamental part of the game.
Great home support is also a trigger for players to join such a club. It's an advantage against competitors.
The main mechanisms are no rocket science and well known for decades. Why such a big and visionary club refuses to implement a project team with the clear target to improve MCFC's fanbase and match atmosphere is totally beyond me.

We need to move the away fans out of the South Stand.

Singing constantly for singing's sake is so yesterday. Mancs lead the way in this world and if that means we sing when we want then so be it.
Next thing we'll be Germans turning our backs with choreography megaphone cheerleader nob heads telling us what we're singing next.

You are free to join in or not though. I prefer that choice to hearing a pin drop.
But I get what you mean and match independent singsung can be very very nervy.

That's why the St.Pauli fanbase is split between a cheer-leaded nonstop singing Ultra group and a situation dependent "old school" set of supporters. They have accepted each other after years of debate about "true fans". Now they are joining their songs when they want. But they both support what they love as good as they can. Sure it helps that the "old school" group has alone 10,000 people on a standing terrace. All hail the Kippax.

Anyway, when "singing when you want" means ignore what your team needs, it's just lazy, consume minded non-support. IMO.

Aging demographic. Higher prices and the higher cost of living mean that many cant afford it, certainly at that phase in life you get involved in buying houses, weddings, and having babies. A few can manage, if they've foregone those things or lucky enough to earn big money, and youre alright while you still live cheaply with your parents. Personally I've had no chance for 5 years now and secretly hoped id get some city tickets off santa, as i miss it :/

1894 just so happens to be the average birth year of our fan base. Nobody even WANTS to sing, so literally any attempt to make them sing will fail.

Tonight the noise made by 7000 fans in one stand was impressive. But it makes you think, that’s only just over half of the Anfield Kop.

Imagine being provided with a stand of 12000 all for your own fans in one tier by the club. It’s going to be even bigger at White Hart Lane when it’s done.

We’ve got a block in a small tier next to away fans or completely surrounded by away fans in the cups. It’s pitiful and just so plainly in the wrong place, it really gets under my skin!

You could provide a stand with 20,000 in it. Have you read jrb's post? If the majority just stand there staring at away fans with arms folded too cool to sing so what's the point. You can make as many excuses about acoustics as you like, the fact is people have moved to the singing section to be near atmosphere not to create it. Same with safe standing. I keep seeing this as the saviour of atmosphere. It will just be another white elephant. The South Stand stand now. They've been out sung by teams who have only filled the south stand lower regularly.
