Singing section/Atmosphere

Everyone must think the beer and food is cheeper or it’s 6° warmer in the family stand yall that desperate to get over there and kick the families out, hypocrisy at its best.
Cudos to those in the corner and next to the away fans in the south who have made noise since we moved to the ground but the rest of south stand with the few singers they have barley make any noise so what makes them/ you think you can fill the whole north stand with singers when you can’t even fill what you got now with singers.
There have been many attempts to put singers together in the same block for cup games by the 1894 group and I’d be surprised if they actually got a whole block together, never looked like they did and never sounded like they did, but fair play to them for trying so filling a whole north stand and maybe a extended north stand as some of you are suggesting is ridicules .
I’d go as far as saying there’s enough room for the family stand and the few hundred singers to cohabit a tier let alone a full stand.
And why would you want to move away from the away fans. Growing up on the Kippax and plat lane was special having the away fans in the cage to bounce off. Then was the same when away fans was moved into the north stand with the more vocal home fans switching Kippax corners and the north stand becoming more lively. Moving what singers they are now would sterilise the atmosphere even more in my opinion.

And for those saying time to kick the family’s / fuck the families off etc etc very nice of you . Give them a try next to the away fans they would probably make more noise then you

I think you would find with the introduction of safe standing you would quite easily fill out a developed North stand. We are not asking for Dortmunds wall or anything of the likes. City are not stupid, with people more and more pushing for standing across the country they would hold off for the time being.

The problem with the South stand is that it is already done up, the ship has sailed already. To stay in there is just to continue how it is. Lots of ground do just fine being nowhere near away fans. The likes of Bayern Munich, Gladbach and Liverpool with the Kop if you want to look closer to home are all the opposite end. Scum with the Stretford end as well. As mentioned previous this might actually improve it not just the typical shit you have every game taking the piss out of the away section.

In regards to the family stand what other ground has such a big family section? I would not do away with such a section completely as it is a good idea for the kids but just move it. If they don't want to move that's fine, just let them know it will be stood up, singing and swearing etc. I think they would last a season at most.

The final part you make about moving them to the south stand and making more noise. Really. Give me a bit of whatever you're drinking if so. The south stand and the corner block is the only place in the ground to make any noise. In no way am I saying it is brilliant but nothing from the other 3 stands. Why do you think stand up if you love city is sung from 115 every game. To try and get people involved. Then bluemoon or whatever is sung straight after it hopefully everyone is still on there feet and joins in with it. Never happens that way mind.

This is what we need to do but I’ve heard it’s for policing reasons they are there..the best solution is to move the main home stand to the North stand and redevelop it accordingly..moving the families next to the away support in the South Stand

Yep. For those saying that the main singing section needs to be next to the away fans to give them something to bounce off, I don't see it like that. A fully redeveloped end at the other side of the stadium - preferably a single tier stand as opposed to being split over 3 tiers - would do more for the atmosphere IMO, especially if safe standing gets the go ahead.

It was always going to be the case, if away fans are housed at one end & we put the singing section near there, that they would end up with thousands of away fans stood next to them, at a cup game. No way the police are going to suddenly change their operations.

How often, in the history of football, have a huge away contingent of City fans, been housed next to the home singers ?

In the days when I used to go, it only ever happened at small time clubs.

The singing section from that club would be at the other end, singing, then the brain dead moron section, who spend all the game throwing darts etc, would be housed at the other end, next to the City fans.

Even Leeds had an opposite singing 'end' .

I was in 117 last night and the atmosphere wasn’t particularly lively.

I suppose cup games are a tough one because there are a lot not in their regular seats with familiar faces.

Interesting - I observed completely the opposite. A lot of SC holders are not in the cup scheme or didn't turn up. For Bristol and Burnley had different people around me and what a difference. Very passionate and join in the singing. I don't know if these are relocated fans or fans just picking up tickets in the cup but much more enjoyable. Back to the regulars next and a more subdued atmosphere.

The other thing is why on earth do we give opposition fans a prime location rather than sticking them high up in the corners.

After I got home last night I watched the last 10 minutes of the match.

I was absolutely amazed at how loud and noisy the Bristol City fans were.

Where I stand at the back of 115, and under the overhang, I only heard them briefly throughout the match. I wrkngly thought they were very quiet.

As we know, the stadium is dreadful for noise to travel around it. Unfortunately this can never be fixed

8000 away fans in SS2 and SS3 sounded impressive on the TV. They are killing the home support in cup games.

They did fair play, but try a home game at Ashton Gate in the league and you will think our place is like the San Siro.

I was in 115 row L and could hear them loud and clear. They must be rich with the amount of coins they threw down at us must of been the first few rows of second tier, added when they scored a penalty one decided to throw (or maybe drop) a oasis bottle with no lid on that hit an old fella.

Anyway, I think it’s hard to get an atmosphere going when you have 7000 odd fans singing over you as some people simply give up. Even when we sang, it soon died out after 10 seconds.

Also, whoever was in row m with a black leather jacket and city scarf should be ashamed calling Yaya a black bastard.
did any one around that man pull him up on what he shouted at YAYA?
bit of a joke if not,he should get a dig or at least be repoted to a steward and a picture took of him,i understand some people dont like confrontation but this should not be tolerated, not the first time i have heard of something like this.

As I said in a previous post. The way it’s all laid out in the south stand side of the ground is all wrong .Definately agree that the problem is where the away fans are situated at that end of the ground .It splits the core home support up.Really think the answer is to have a designated home end where the family stand is now ,because at the minute it’s just not working.
