How the hell did Italy, perennial wooden spoonists, beat Scotland after their convincing wins over Wales and England. Still it gives the underdogs a rare lift and overall it's good for the tournament.

Not sure of the % split, but there seems to be a low number of away victories in the 6 Nations ?
Cannot understand the reason, as each team only has 2 or a maximum of 3 home games each season ?
It's not as if each home team can get that familiar with their "home ground".
Perhaps it's the atmosphere that the home fans generate ?

I think the atmosphere plays a big part. Henry Winter was at Twickenham yesterday and said the atmosphere was given an edge by the Italy win over Scotland. England also learnt from some poor tactics against Scotland when Furbank’s positioning behind the scrum half gave the Scotts half the pitch to run into when he made handling errors.

They might have a chance in Rome, as Italy will be Cardiff.

At least they won't be as enormous as the French. I think England would beat today's French team though.
