I'm off to Niseko in Japan on Xmas day... Can't wait. Powder at its best I believe.
Need to find a good sports bar to watch my blue boys .

We were at Niseko last Chrimbo. It's a very small place with just 2 hotels, Hilton and Green Leaf. I think you're unlikely to find anywhere showing City there. More lively is Hirafu resort which is about 20 mins bus ride away. Not sure what's there in the way of bars, I'd be inclined to google it.

We had just two days out of ten with sunshine and the snow was as good as I've ever skied, (apart from one cracking hol in Lake Louise when it snowed all night and sunned all day for 5 days straight) but the locals were apologising for the awful snow :-) Make sure you've a good set of goggles with lenses for low light and decent face coverage coz you'll need it when it snows. My lad was instructing out there for the season and I think he watched City with some help from Shady's blog. I'll be surprised if you don't have a great hol there though :) . Off to Morzine again this year. So far looks like the walking boots might get some hammer :(
Thanks for the advice mate. We are actually staying in Grand Hirafu , so maybe more chance of catching the games. Thanks again.

Spent a good amount of my younger years here. The skiing is world class. Great place to be in the spring, summer and autumn as well. Would move here today if I could afford it.

There's talk of opening a bunch of terrain on the west side of Baldy where the big fire was a few years back...getting a chubba thinking about it

Mate is doing a ski season in La Plagne, so I'm off over there on the 22nd of Jan for 3 days. Can't wait!

Anyone have any recommendations how I should get there? Was thinking about renting a car from Geneva airport but it's going to cost me around €150 for car and parking.

Bens bus is about £76 / €93 return from gva.

If you are travelling from that London you can get Eurostar direct to aime la plagne then a bus to other resorts but you have to return from moutiers

What's the snow looking like over the Alps at the moment? Sounded like a pretty dodgy start to the season for most.

I'm in morzine at the moment. Conditions aren't great here or in les gets but avoriaz is ten mins away and it's decent there - bit scratchy but nothing too bad and it's very quiet so you can find yourself alone on a run for large parts which is great (I always find other peoplr more hazardous than anything else)

Tried a bit of cross country in Norway, boring as fuck, and some downhill in Sweden, spent all the time on me arse and going down the slope backwards, with my shit balance I'm not cut out for skiing...

How are things going away from morzine, towards les lindarets and the Swiss border?
