What's the snow looking like over the Alps at the moment? Sounded like a pretty dodgy start to the season for most.

I'm in morzine at the moment. Conditions aren't great here or in les gets but avoriaz is ten mins away and it's decent there - bit scratchy but nothing too bad and it's very quiet so you can find yourself alone on a run for large parts which is great (I always find other peoplr more hazardous than anything else)

How are things going away from morzine, towards les lindarets and the Swiss border?

Swiss border is ok - some very icy patches (actual ice rather than scratchy snow) but lots of decent enough stuff. Lindarets is ok - prolay is over used and so is very icy and busy. The run down from lindaret to ardent is good as most are getting the lift down. Up past avoriaz centre to arare is really good - quite quiet and good snow.

Lindaret and avoriaz before lunch is all fine

still patchy i believe. our daughter and son in law are in coucheval (sp) and its icy due to lacl of snow. she has fallen and sustained a knee injury. now in a brace and holiday over. careful out there people.

Sister did the exact same thing last year in Austria, 2 days in. Not a lot to do in an Alpine town if you're not skiing! Hope she's on the mend quick :)
