You’ll be able to get whatever you want but don’t forget there’s a reason it’s very cheap. I’m not comfortable with it myself because I don’t know where the money ends up.
I pirate loads of stuff. But I'm always really rather unhappy when it involves money. Grew up taping songs off the radio, copying floppy disks, had two VCRs so we could tape-to-tape rental releases.
There's always some money involved. Agfa, BASF and Memorex made bank from blank tape sales. But there was always an understanding that recording from broadcasts was more or less a fair use.
Nowadays, it's a bit more murky. Torrent sites selling accounts and download rights are a personal bugbear. There's little argument for fair use here, because that service can be provided for free. Gets strange when on these 'free' (and illegal) torrent websites, ordinary companies are paying for advertising.
Some IPTV providers will be small backroom techie set ups just making a few quid, but others will be far more organised, cynical and linked to organised crime, scamming people out of life savings, people trafficking, violence and intimidation. Really toxic stuff that destroys people.
I detest Murdoch's cynical use of his hold over what the public see and hear. Then there's the gambling and alcohol firms.
But I don't think buying an IPTV sub really counts as a protest against that.
If we do it, it's because it saves us money. That is the honest choice.
