I agree we need to be more clever like Spain, Germany and Italy have shown over the years(we show all our cards early and rarely surprise after that) maybe play some rope-a-dope with teams, maybe switch through the gears(we seem to have only 2) to catch them out when they feel settled.

It didn't look like we expected them to sit back so much, I must be honest I didn't expect them to either but at half time was when Hodgson should have earned his bread and he simply didn't.

To be fair on Joe I think whoever we play in the last 16 won't fancy their chances against us (Portugal maybe). After that we're likely to go out which, in fairness,is par for the course for England.

Drew against russia and slovakia and beat wales in the last minute, i think we play well in patches but i get the impression hodgson hasnt got a clue. For him to say he never thought he would see the day england dominated 3 teams in a major comp is insulting. When we dominate a germany or spain I'll take notice.
