Smoking

I remember going to Pride Park a few years back and a big steward picked out a young lad for ejection from amongst the Blues who were openly smoking in the seats.

At half time, the same steward opened the gates at the back of the away stand to let the smokers out for a tab, then he and his mates waited until we'd all finished before closing the gates again. We'd need some sort of enclosure and it'd need a big hoover afterwards, you just know people wouldn't use any "facilities" provided.

I do 20 a day but I can manage to last for a couple of hours without crying about it. Unlike when we were watching third tier, that was bloody hard!

I'm still up for a smoking standing section on the roof .... the view would be great and would increase the capacity to about 180,000 :P

Sorry I didn't realise having a beer in an enclosed area or using a mobile phone is illegal or bad for your health.

#thundertwunt
Not at the moment it isn't. But people of the lets ban it brigade will soon make it happen. As for your health ,well no one dies from drink do they ? And all this talktalk about what mobiles do to the brain ,well I think you should put your mobile down for a while.

The difference being he chooses to use a phone just like you choose to smoke.

Going in smoke filled bogs for a piss you dont get that choice
For the record I can go without for a couple of hours, so don't go in the bog. Thats because I don't drink therefore don't need a p***. My choice. Your choice to have a p***.

is the smoking ban just in the stadium or throughout the campus?

Merthyr Town have the right idea .... they are renaming their ground to the Cigg-E Stadium ...... City take note!! lol

It's not the club who has decide this, its the law of the land.
Which law stops us erecting temporary smoking area's outside the ground? I'm not being funny it's a genuine question.

No smoking on council land. So that includes outside the stadium including city square (although this is not enforced)

But the club go further than "not enforcing" by providing ashtrays in Summerbee's Bar.

So if it can be done there, on "council land", why not elsewhere on the campus?

The club do need to do something about it. It gets mentioned at meetings as is normally brushed off straight-away. No matter what they implement to stop people smoking in the toilets, smokers will still go for a crafty cig

i'd like to know the average age of the health & safety bods on here my guess most of them never seen the 70s, wadeing through piss at blackpool, being pissed on from the upper tier at everton, hiding in walton cemetery untill the sousers with the stanley blades had gone home, lol they wouldnt have lasted two minutes untill they ran back to mummy complaining
If it says no smoking than so be it, but you're spot on with the difference in things. It's like luxury going to the game now, I would imagine.

To be fair i dont think it makes you a big girl to complain about being pissed on or nearly being stabbed by scousers! So yeah, i would be running to mummy thank you very much!

is it just one toilet, I don't know cause im in the family stand and don't frequent the scary parts of the ground, where people smoke and shout rude words at each other, and dare to stand up to watch the game. if so then why not just let them have it and everyone else avoid it, there are loads of toilets surely. compromise and common sense. and for you lot moaning about having to breathe in some smoke for 2mins every 2 weeks is a nonsense, its not gonna hurt you, I bet your the same morons who are now trying to get smoking banned in beer gardens aswell actually in the bars.

Something to do with the law and Environmental Health. The club have a resposibility to enforce the ban.
There should be an outside area for half time smoking though.
Why should the club go out of their way for smokers?

If smokers cannot resist a fag for 100 minutes then what they are doing at a football match is beyond me. A bit like those middle-aged wearing replica shirts with beer bellies hanging out.
