So playing the weakened team against Utd worked out

I would much rather look back on an historic win over barca with a full rested squad than a cup win over the rags who are no threat to us anymore, perspective people

It would have worked if we had won. In both the Swansea and United games better players were brought on so I don not think the intention was to get knocked out.

The win against Barca still means we are likely to come second, so it was not that important to qualification.

Isn't hindsight wonderful.

Up to three midweek games less for us.

That's got to be a good thing in the long run now that last 16 CL looks likely.

How many posters called for his head?
Ok ok there here were only a couple who specifically said it, but the rest (In a meaningless B team game against Utd!) was about how Pep doesnt know what he is doing.

I dont mind that, we all have a hissy after a game. But it's nearly every game we lose, they come out from the back and start talking about Pep as if our manager is an idiot. It's those people who boo the team on the pitch imo. They want Instant gratification or sack the manager - Whoever he is!

Disagree again. The primary reason a number of posters were unhappy was because it was against the hated rags, not because it was stupid. I doubt a single person on Bluemoon thinks the manager is stupid, even if they take issue on the odd point.

In footballing terms, the decision to field a seriously weakened team was arguably vindicated by the two subsequent (excellent) wins. We will never know for certain, and it might have gone a different way, but on balance it worked out. That doesn't alter the fact that, in some eyes, the price was a high one. It's just not as black and white as some would have it.

Anyway, isn't it time to move on? The vast majority on both sides of the argument are getting more pleasure from the last two performances than the opportunity to wind other posters up.

My frustration with that game wasn't the weakened team, but what looked like a lack of desire to win it.

its worked out for the Rags , held by the mighty Burnley (37 shots) at home and now getting stuffed by some Turkish waiters whilst injuring the most expensive hairstylist in football. Yooonited the football club that just keeps on giving

And it could've been 6 to Fenerbahce and they're making the rags look like a conference outfit lol. Our dominance and magnificent entertaining football with the best manager on the planet combined with their demise, boring crap and the most pathetic gurning manager in league is just so unbelievable I sometimes think I'm going to wake up and find it was all a dream lol. What a time to be Blue
