Alright let's stop calling it an agenda, let's call it bias against City.
This bias arises because the British media will obviously favour those clubs which generate a high proportion of their revenues and have the most British managers, players, owners. We score badly on all these fronts compared to Rags, scum, chavs and gooners. Also our injection of free money compared to the 'earned' money of our competitors offends the fair play sensitivities of much of the media especially some well known anti city journos. It's there to see every day and it's so obvious it's not worth discussion any more. if the Liverpool 'love in' of last season didn't convince you of this then nothing ever will.

I'd be inclined to call it a bias towards the establishment clubs: the rags above all but we did see a surge of dipper nostalgia last year. This rather than a concerted agenda.

Although still marked, it will be eroded slightly each year City spend at the top.

This is an excellent post and spot on IMO.

The bias will absolutely be eroded, as it has been at Chelsea, the more years we spend winning things. The big change will come when the media finally get to realise, and become aware of, the massive investment the club is making in East Manchester. The scale is unparalleled in British and probably European football and though the media is aware of some of it, the time when youth players begin to play for City or are sold for big money is the time when we become difficult to criticise.

What we also don't have is a manager who is a rent a quote for the papers. We could have easily overcome the bias by now by employing a manager who was willing to talk about the club every few minutes like our 'Arry. Thank goodness that isn't the case though, the quiet efficiency within the club is a wonderful thing and the gradual revealing of our plans will eventually be awe inspiring.

Twice in about 20mins on talksh*t , it was mentioned that if Germany win on Sunday , arsenal will have 3 World Cup winners in their squad.
Absolutely no mention of any other English club who could equal that feat.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/news/2014-15/jul/world-cup-round-up-100714-man-city-trio-help-argentina-reach-final.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news ... final.html</a>

That is the premier league promoting the premier league just so happens it's manchester city helping them do it. Would be great if we could see similar articles across the whole of the media outlets.

I think what pisses us off so much is not so much an agenda but every story written or spoken about us always has a negative slant.Look at mails story re mangala today...all they were going on about is citys foreign quota etc...We were hammered for spending money as we had to but the rag c**ts are spunking it like there is no tomorrow.
I pay for sky...There football coverage is second to one. However the only person who seems to fight the blue fight is Wedderburn..Wouldnt surprise me if they fuck him off soon.

I agree with you SHB on the negative slant but we may have the last laugh.

The media constantly tell us that we have stalled the career of Jack Rodwell and never mention his injury ravaged time with us. As a consequence., we seem to have clubs queuing up to offer north of £10m for Jack when we would be looking at a lesser fee IMHO, without the media re-writing history.
Hopefully pal..to lead to another english players career being ruined at our club strories....

Spot on SHB but at least we will have the money in the bank and hopefully more trophies in the cabinet.

I know there is a negative in terms of press and possibly making it more difficult to recruit English players - but PL footballers respond to money as fast as dodgy bankers

SSN shows a clip of neymar speaking about his injury and the forthcoming final. a caption pops up as they do introducing him as neymar, barcalona and brazil.
the next player interviewed is aguero. now his caption just reads argentina. no mention of his club side. anyone got any idea why they would mention one players club, during a world cup, and not the other? the next guy interviewed is maxi rodriguez, yes you guess it from newels old boys and argentina. why's that then?

genuine question.

I don't know tbh Bill,it's not as if we have 3 players from city in the world cup final or owt and the vermine have none..Its not as if we are PL champions or owt and the vermine are not. its not as if we are in the CL this year and the vermine are not..

I really cant see an agenda tbh..

Well I've been waiting for the Premier League years from last season and was expecting it next weekend as the 11/12 was shown at 10pm on Friday 20th July that year(just checked when I recorded it) so I've just checked the listings as it must be Imminent as next Friday and Saturday they have the 12/13 and 92/93 ones, funnily enough the first and last ones the Scum won, It's not on up to next Saturday night though.

Have you seen the new bt ad on TV? You'd think Liverpool had won the league last season.

Because they are petty wankers whome i hope get taken to the cleaners by BT sport and are left with rugby shitting league and a bit of boring golf.

It also seems they have not got to grips with piracy yet either giving you your unique viewing code right at the top where it will be easily cropped of for illegal streams :D

I understand that they have an affiliation with Utd but if i was them and saw how it is going the plan would be "be neutral" or do they still make all their cash of utd subscribers ?

Upon reflection, I must confess to a degree of doublethink on this subject, because whilst I never like unfair or unwarranted criticism of our club, I do quite like us being outsiders, discrernibly detached from the ancien regime.

If I ask myself: do I want us to become fully a part of the self-satisfied, sanctimonious establishment, the answer is no. Given the way our media operates in this country I'm not sure there's a happy medium where we get a fair press without completely compromising one of the things that differentiates us from the likes of Arsenal and united.

I'd always want us to retain an emotional distance from those who sought to exclude us from their little club.

If the price of that is to continue to get a degree of unfair coverage from the cockroaches of the press, it's one I would willingly take.

We are lucky enough to watch one of the best teams/squads in europe, in one of the best stadia , we regularly win trophies and have annual trips to wembley , we dont have to sell our players , and we can buy virtually any player who becomes available (despite FFP) , most other supporters of football clubs would be thinking "you lucky bastards" , and now we want to be loved and adored ? . Success breeds contempt , perhaps we should treat the pathetic media ramblings with the contempt that they deserve .
