Man City fans.Who do you count as “normal people ? “
To be fair I cannot fathom how anyone in the world can support anyone else.Man City fans.
You must know different ones than me.Man City fans.
Shock horror we’ve already gone to the extremes. What I’ve just read is the equivalent of describing socialism as the 100’s of millions dead in the 20th century, in Communist countries.
Social conservatism is just the social policy side of conservatism.
In Britain, its traditionalist values, based on family, institutions, the countryside being protected, the church, law and community.
...
What does it mean to you?
Do you identify as this yourself?
What policies would you like to see introduced?
Who are your political heroes (contemporary or recent past) in public life/philosophy/commentary etc?
Just a starting block for debate, please add your own questions and answers as you wish.
1/ Belief in hetrosexual marriage - yesMeans fuck all to me
Nope not in any way
None of them they are all regressive and belong in the past.
Most social conservatives I would consider villians not heroes
There are many slants on the apcial conservative model in each country
But all have a the same core values.
Belief in hetrosexual marriage and rejection of same sex couples.
Reducing government and state dependency and shrinking the state
Anti-abortion
Anti-euthanasia
Anti- immigration unless it suits
Belief that church and state should intertwine
Where they have one a devotion to the monarchy
Nationalism (not to be confused with patriotism)
There are many more things a social conservative may add depending on their culture and country, but seeing as politocal parties like VOX in spain are social conservatives and UKIP here, not for me
It should never be confused with one nation conservatism which we have here in the UK or normalised as regular conservative thinking, it is a fringe belief on more to the right than center right
1/ Belief in hetrosexual marriage - yes
2/ and rejection of same sex couples - no, the gay social conservatives say “heeeyyyyy”
3/ Reducing government and state dependency and shrinking the state - no (social not economic, read the title)
4/ Anti-abortion - absolutely, killing humans is morally reprehensible
5/ Anti-euthanasia - see above
6/ Anti- immigration unless it suits - limit it, not “anti”
7/ Belief that church and state should intertwine - not precious about this, religious freedom is more important
8/ Where they have one a devotion to the monarchy - We are better for Her Majesty
9/ Nationalism (not to be confused with patriotism) - utter piddle
