I don't think there's many people who went to away games regularly in the 80's who'd say the worse thing they saw was the odd person using the F word.

If you made it back to the station at a lot of games without at least been bottled or stabbed a couple of times, it was considered uneventful.

I made it back to Euston in one piece then an Arsenal fan pulled out a big blade and threatened me with it, luckily there was tall iron railings between us...Damn near shit it I did!

I didn't go to away games in the 80s, I was a teenager who lived in Burnage. I went to home games, didn't even know how you could get to go to away games. I get to some away games now I'm in my 40s, it's where I see a lot of this dickhead behaviour on our fan's part unfortunately.

If you think that away games involving stabbing / bottling is something to aspire to or remember fondly, maybe you're the morons I'm referring to. I'd prefer to be able to take my young girl to games, and for her to have a good time. At the moment that's unrealistic and that saddens me.

You're just a kid .......the 70's and 80's would have seen you off probably.

No they wouldn't. I followed City home and away in the 70's & 80's religiously and never saw behaviour like I've seen at Wembley in the last 2 years. The aggro in the 70's & 80's was almost with the opposing fans - and yes it got a bit tasty!
But never the 'Blue on Blue' stuff which is all to common now. Let's make no mistake about it in very recent years some of our so called fans are disgraceful.
It's no use ignoring it or pretending it's just a minority. The fact is that it is unacceptable.

Nobody is pretending, it IS a minority.

It's an increasing problem and it's disgraceful. Even 3 years ago it was nowhere near as bad as it is now.
No use ignoring it. It won't go away and worryingly it will continue to get worse.
