Songs banned by the BBC.... and why.

IIRC yes he did, like a lot of songs it was banned part way through it's chart run after they realised ding a ling was a willie.
Mary Whitehouse complained to the BBC and they then banned it on their airwaves. But the BBC knew Chuck mi dick Berry was a nonce 10 years before that song was released and should have never allowed him on TOTPs for serving 18 months in the nick for being convicted of having sex with a 14 year old girl.

Yet Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13 year old cousin…..

King Kong man
Voodoo man
swinging around in coconut trees

All sang in a mock Carribbean accent.

Definitely banned.
Yes, but let's not get all woke about a song 54 years ago Bill. It was never his intention to be racist. Like I said, it was just to act out a simple life away from the stresses of every day life. And a bloody good song to boot! :)

Not sure if banned but Killing an arab by the Cure doesnt seem to get played anymore.
Elvis Costello retired Oliver's Army from his live setlist.

@Mad Eyed Screamer I seem to remember a number of Tory MP's and the like kicking off about Shoplifters of the World Unite. An online search doesn't show it being banned so I assume they failed.
They seemed to think it would lead to mass theft !

On another note. Hawkwind had a top 20 hit with their debut single 'Silver Machine'. Their follow up single didn't fare so well.....
'I'm a urban guerrilla I make bombs in my cellar" led to the single being banned and the Special Branch raiding various addresses
