If we want to be a top club, then we have to enhance our global brand.
I stood on the Kippax for years. And before that, the scoreboard end at Maine Road when it was open.
Great times and memories.
But times change and the world moves on. We don't always like it. But if we don't bite the bullitt, then we're never going to be mentioned in the same breath as the Barcelona's and Madrid's of this world.
And surely that's what all Blues want. Isn't it ?

Bang on! Some on here want the old days when we were crap I'm sure of it,constantly moaning about this and that, we have the best owners in the world, we are Premiership Champions, yes Champions.....enjoy the ride....

Im with this and have no problem with whats happening to us! didnt I hear we are 3rd cheapest in the Prem for Season Tix & that 35K of our 48k stadium is already seasoncard holders? If the latter is true I dont see how JCL's will take over......If prices start going up and we become forced to buy cup schemes (which I dont want to sign up to because I work away midweek) I will simply rent out the games I dont want to other Blues on here or blues I know at cost!!! All because our results are going the right way and were gonna be at the top table for years to come so always a sellout. Happy my old fella made me a Blue as im now locked into the greatest football show / battle on earth! If I cant make the games I'll keep my ticket and rent to blues until I can return - simples.

-- Fri Mar 08, 2013 7:24 pm --

a lot of visionaries on this thread, its been 4 years since the takeover ,its the same manchester people sat around me,prices are still some of the cheapest in the prem .and we are champs of englend with some of the worlds best players,so instead of worring about what the future may or may not bring, how about saving any concerns for when they are warrented ,and stop flapping over some thing that may never materilise

Only dis! Block 238 hasnt changed from where im sat ;)

Meh...

So basically they'll market this club to the JCL's as being apart of Manchester, and focus on the culture/heritage in the area...so we'll have thousands flocking to the city every other week and a vast amount of people actually from the area won't even be in the ground, sat in a pub near the ground watching the game as we can't afford to get in.

But forget about it - it's still a proper mancunian club because Hatton and Gallaghers are rolled out in a video on youtube with their accents and they'll say so.

Be Part of it ;)

Fooking sceptic. ;)

I ain't bud...Sorry I just can't see myself in that stadium in 10yrs time, I won't be affording that premium product.

Well if I keep wearing condoms and don't get a mortgage I could still afford to be a Blue, maybe?

Just a reality.

Cynical, but if we're being totally realistic this is already happening.

I attended 37 0f the 38 games last season, but on the train to the parade I was surrounded by lots of City fans who couldn't afford a regular match ticket.

That's the price of our success and thankfully I'm one of the lucky ones

How it that currently price of success if City have third lowest season tickets prices?

It's a price of overall football ticket expenses, nothing to do with City success.

Yet.

Good point MSP.

We are one of the cheapest SC providers in the league, my issue is not with the club however...it's football in general.

As said on the parade last season there was shitloads of Blues on the Trams, I spoke to many and was surprised to hear alot were not actual matchgoers, just regular fans who have city as their chosen match of the day club.

My Aunt is an example. she was at Newcastle in the 60's when we won the league.
Been to many games yet has never been to Etihad Stadium.

I asked why and the reply was in relation to pricing.

She isn't poor either.

Sorry but you’ve misunderstood.
Season Ticket prices are one thing, but what about the occasional fan who can’t afford £45 for one game?
It doesn’t matter who started it because City are following the same route.

I have not misunderstood it. He said it's price of success and I have pointed that City have some of the cheapest tickets in the league.

So it's nothing success related as there are obviously many less or not successful clubs with higher ticket prices.

may be city should model ourselves like say Swansea, be happy with reasonable success, and keep fans in the game. make it sustainable but not at the price of normal fans.

I think the vision is an interesting one. As an American my indoctrination into football was from a distance. As a kid I loved the Manchester music scene and when I started touring, as a musician in the early 90’s, I was drawn to Manchester. When I finished up a tour, could have a day off or needed to come to England for any reason the city I wanted to be in was Manchester because of the music. When it came to Football, as an American and during a time where access to football was almost obsolete aside from local school kid matches, it was natural for me to be drawn to a Football club that came from a place I had some attraction towards and for me that was Manchester. My first match was at Old Trafford, on November 10 1994, to see City v United. United tore City up (5-0) but as an outsider, whose primary passion was music and specifically the music of Manchester, how could I not fall for City? Who better represented the music I was interested in? What team outsiders are introduced to our Club, and most importantly are differentiating from every other “big” club, I think focusing on the tradition of the club and Manchester itself is a great one and it does give City a unique and interesting story.
great to hear your story pal.

You sound like a proper blue to me.

Post some more fella

Manchester city should model themselves on Swansea.

You heard it here first, everyone.
