South Africa

I'm truly envious of you, they do say Africa gets in your blood and it certainly got into mine. I had my wallet stolen in Capetown on Christmas Eve but apart from a few hours hassle it never stopped me loving the place one bit. My wifes cousin and her husband have a Bananna plantation in Tzaneen and Anne and Alan have built accomadation and a school on site for all their employees. I doubt i'll make this trip but its definetly on my list to do in the next two years.[/quote]

Me and the wife have a flat in Tzaneen but we have our own business on the wife's mum's game farm about 50km's outside Tzaneen in the harmony block. We make specialist animal feeds for Buffalo, Sable, Roan etc.

Like i said mate, give us a bell if you make it and we will paint Tzaneen blue!

Your on and even if its not this time around like I said I have every intention of going back as soon as possible so you never know you may get a call. I do remember in Tzaneen we went for a drink at a hotel in the mountains with stunning views and visited a crocodile farm where my wife fed them and the speed of them is frightening.

Anne gave us a VW van complete with a fridge full of meat and me, Clare and our two girls just drove off into the sunset to find Kruger and had three of the most amazing days ever. Some amazing memories, I was cooking a braai early one evening whilst an eagle flew around me literally about 10ft above my head and another time we sat and watched for over an hour two female lions trying to rip open the skin of a dead hippo whilst the male sat by and watched. Every now and then other hippos would come out of the water and chase the lions away. We were there for the new year and my birthday falls on New Years Eve and we took a midnight safari out into the bush and celebrated the new year in whilst taking in all the sounds of an African night, certainly a birthday i'll never forget.

Your making me want to go and check out some late flight details tomorrow mate......Ermmm.

The croc farm is called Agatha and the hotel could be a few depending which side of the mountain you was on.

Done the Kruger lots of times too, the last visit we also got a real good Leopard spot which was fantastic.

Until you have been you really cant appreciate just how beautiful this country is.

Check them flights mate.........lol

I think the hotel might have been the Coach House, I did think the name had something to do with springs but I can't see anything on the net apart from the Coach House that looks like it.

I'm definetly checking flights again I've even got the wife's consent haha.

What I really loved about Kruger and it took me by surprise was the smaller things lke the insects, the reptiles and wow the amount of differnet bird life is unreal. Think I'm going to find the video's I took and have a Kruger re-visit tomorrow night.

cant wait for this one counting the days down to first game even though ill arrive last minute big thanks to blueinsa for some guidance on this trip as i knew as much about SA as stretford. so bufana bufana get ready for the city city comin to a town near you...

Make sure you pack your ear muffs. Those pesky horns will be out in force again.

Yeah it will be the coach house, beautiful colonial building with the old post box and maps and a real nice curio shop. They make the famouse "coach house" nougat. It was the old staging post for the trading route between Pretoria and Tzaneen i think? Its now a very nice 5 star hotel and restaurent.

I had sunday lunch there about 6 weeks ago and very nice it was too!

Get your arse out man will be good!

Pigonthewall, looking forward to seeing you fella!

As for the "air horns"! They are not air horns they a fucking vuvuzela's (sp) and dont worry, im taking the 30.06 out to the game and shooting as many as them as possible! Joke!
