The manager and the players all at fault of this bad performance against Southampton. Not acceptable at all, not even a single shot on target!!!! with the quality of our team, this was a chock.
I think we might be able to add Philips to that list but it's too early to tell.Cancelo is not a defender and will never be, his good performance is always linked to the support he gives to attack, not defense. He is always considered as one of the best left back not because of his defending skills but actually his key passes.
City should have a qualified professional left back who can defend, Gomez and Cancelo are not good for what City want to achieve.
Their high press really got to Laporte and he looked like he didn't trust Ortega which was a factor...if we wanted to get something out of last night...stick Haaland on early which would have reduced their team press. They would have been wary of Laporte picking him out, ball over top. They would have all dropped off 10 to 15 yds when we had the ball. Utd clearly the priority.Ortega shite
Laporte shite again
Such a shame re Cancello really off cliff, bernie always wants out (doesn't help squad morale) Foden whats happened...Grealish well.....Palmer..great feet but has some glaring deficiencies..Phillips..who knows but...basocally we need to stop this media BS ..2 x players for each position my arse!I truly can't imagine a lineup looking like that ever again any time soon. In a way it was disrespectful to Saints. Laporte must have been boiling inside playing with that motley crew. Cancelo needs to be moved in the Summer. He's way past his expiration date with us...
I think we need to let the FBs play as fullbacks and not auxiliary cms the inverted experiment isn’t working. Cancelo always a flake imho but agree he’s our best option at lB. Letting Zinchenko go looks more crazy than ever given Gomez is levels below him.We need Walker and Cancelo in good form if we want to win a big trophy this season.
Rico and Ake can do a job at FB, but they are not top FBs (yet). We can get away with them at FB vs average teams (we didn't vs Everton though, both did nothing in attack). But we will struggle vs Bayern or PSG, and it will be difficult vs Arsenal too. Guess Pep will try Walker and Ake vs United, and that's probably the best he can do right now for Cancelo is poor, but the build up play may be sterile and painful to watch.
Something happened between Pep and Cancelo, and the team is suffering from it. Pep should play him at LB again. After the WC, Cancelo has two starts from 6 games, both on the right side, and one as a winger. He won't regain form while competing for minutes with Walker and Rico at RB. Ake is not the solution for the whole of the 2nd half of the season. Gomez isn't the solution either.
