Noticed a few simple passes that went to opposition from both sides.Totally agree watching on tv the few first seconds I wasn’t sure which team was which.

I actually think Phillips is good enough although I agree the Rodri is world class and fundamental to us.I think we'd have to look to put Gundogan back in that role if he did get injured. Phillips is currently nowhere near the standard required. Last night highlighted that Rodri is perhaps our most important player.
I think you're right. Pep will put out a side that he thinks can win a game, but ultimately he will not allow the domestic cups to sabotage the pursuit of the two biggest prizes. When we start a domestic cup campaign, we cannot know what the schedule will look like come January. I think he was right to rest players in this most unforgiving of seasons. If given an extra day before United away, he might have gone stronger, but he has to select in accordance with our schedule and our priorities.i disagree in some context. For example if we played the previous game a day earlier and played southampton on the tuesday or united on the sunday would that team have started i dont think it would have i think part of it was probably due to the short turn around being on at 12.30 saturday with the rags having played the day prior against charlton.
arent we coming out the carabo anyway when the champions league changes to include more games. its the reason im not too fussed about coming out of the cup because having to play newcastle twice in our january i think is not really needed especially with our fixture listI think you're right. The broader issue is that there is simply too much football in this country with two domestic cups and one that has replays. Our players are elite-level athletes but so are everyone else's. Fatigue and injury are never far away when players are overused. I appreciate that this is an unpopular view.
i think your over anlyzing it a little bit. IMO pep was right to fetch of the big guns in the previous derby the game was done and we had another game a few days later. I think the only big game he tends to overthink is anfield away and thats because i think he tries to pay them too much respect. Any manager would bring on his big players when loosing. He thought the team he put out would do a job especially the form prior to it southampton were in. What let him down was the players and their attitude especially some of the big names.I dont understand the Logic Pep wasn't that arsed, thus put out a team not to win.
He brought on all the Big Guns second half and risked injuring them before the Derby.
Yes we were shit last night, and have been most the season by our own high standards,Still we are in with a good chance of the League.
My most endearing memory so far this Season was that first half absolutely battering the Rags.
Even in that Derby game Pep couldn't resist ruining something special, which really pissed me off at the time, and actually still irks me to this day.
We are 6 goals up and the Rags are in total disarray, capitulated.
And just like that Pep starts taking off all those having stormers off a game.
We would have scored 8,9,that day instead we lose some of the gloss finishing 6-3.
Happens so often with him these days. No idea why he does this shit.
Always saving players for the next game. Always chopping and changing.
Sure we were bad last night. Pep though along with Cancelo deserved a 0/10 for his crazy first half team selection.
The fact he tried to rescue his own fuck up after giving the Saints a 2-0 lead to hang on to by bringing on the Big Guns was even crazier.
He made his point about the competition first half.
I am worried he over thinks the Big games way too much. And has too much faith in his own genius.
And the other goal scorer hadn’t scored previouslysays it all really
Absolutely agree with most of this ...especially the comments about the derby.I dont understand the Logic Pep wasn't that arsed, thus put out a team not to win.

Agreed but the team put out last night was on paper more than good enough to win, yet something was wrong from top to bottom. The performance last night was so poor that I am lost for words to describe it. I am amazed though that we put decent teams out and a great deal of effort into beating Chelsea and Liverpool in the earlier rounds. Why would we do this if we were not really bothered about winning this competition?
No mate, certainly not in the form they are showing at the moCouldn't agree more this 2 x team thing is shite. Half of our team in his first half genuinely wouldn't be starters in most teams incl Southampton..you cant beat a prem side with Phillips, Palmer Gomez, and Cancello in his formmm that's a third of the team FFS
