Southampton (A) - Carabao Cup | Post Match Thread

i think your over anlyzing it a little bit. IMO pep was right to fetch of the big guns in the previous derby the game was done and we had another game a few days later. I think the only big game he tends to overthink is anfield away and thats because i think he tries to pay them too much respect. Any manager would bring on his big players when loosing. He thought the team he put out would do a job especially the form prior to it southampton were in. What let him down was the players and their attitude especially some of the big names.
Derby might just be another game to you, and Pep.

It is one of the highlight of any True Blue season.

It isn't having a small Club mentality.

It is bragging rights, Kings of Manchester.

We suffered so many horrendous defeats to these in our darkest hour.

I want to crush them every time, leave them floored, crest fallen.

The game is about entertaining the fans then, and there. Not turn a special game in to sterile soulless event for 3 points, save players, and move on to the next game

God forbid the Rags score 6 tomorrow. Do you think Tea Bag will think "ah well just another game". Let sub all those ripping up Trees.

They will want to destroy us, like we should want to annihilate them in their own back yard.

Bobby Manc got the Derby, Pep never has.

When in my statement did i say the derby didnt matter. to insuate that is just a bit silly and maybe give your head a wobble. ill be at the derby on sunday at the swamp as i was at the derby at the etihad as i am a most games, i also understand the meaning of the derby as i live in manchester work in manchester and grew up in a mixed red/blue household so dont for one second insinuate that i dont get it im just more calm and balanced. also just because i said the game was finished doesnt mean i didnt want to smash them more i also though it was right to bring on other players who also deserve the opportunity to play in a derby. pep does get the derby but he is also a manager whos team has 3 games a week to play who people like yourself would have an opinion on in for example if we were 6 nil up and he didnt take haaland off and he was out for rest of season youd moan. its a balancing act

I actually think Phillips is good enough although I agree the Rodri is world class and fundamental to us.
I think he might be good enough in time but he's miles off it at the moment and perhaps understandably. The problem he faces is that he won't get much game time to get up to speed with the stakes so high in every game we play.

Not the highlight of my season, always hated them and though it may be more than 3 points to the fans I don’t feel any great need for the manager to ‘get it’ and if he can keep the emotional side in check all the better. So whether Mancini. got it more than Pep I couldn’t care less

The worst performance since that Southampton game when Gareth Barry scored an og.
Horrible game that we never looked like coming back from.
A performance so bad I wouldn't be surprised that some players would be moved on if decent offers were made.

It probably was our worst performance, maybe of the whole Pep era. We’d be pretty stupid to base our planning of players futures off it though. We aren’t going to.
