Southampton (A) - Post Match Thread

Finding some of the complaints about refereeing in this thread pretty funny after some of the er, 50/50 decisions that have gone in our favour recently.
It’s the same with every set of fans. There’s always a section who pay more attention to the officials than they do the game, they’re obsessed with those individual incidents that the officials get right almost all of the time and wrong a bit of the time, but ignore the other 89 minutes and 50 seconds of the game where we didn’t do anything else to win the game.

We've dropped two points out of 39 and the title race could be within two games worth of points soon enough

I await the media saying how unfair that is to us because ordinarily a team that good should be out of sight...

2 points against these lower mid table, not good. One more case where Pep ups the manager and results don't come.
Attack has been blunt for past few games.

Dippers will beat Palace easily and thrash Leeds so lead is down to 6 with game at Etihad. Lots to play for
Always look on the bright side !!!

I had a feeling of foreboding about today. It made it all the worse when in the first 5 mins we were walking with the ball & showing no urgency. Ederson was walking with the ball, he waited about 10 seconds for whatever reason, then he eventually passed it to Laporte, who the passed it the fuck back to Ederson when there was no one near them!

The last time we started like this was against Palace, & I just knew we were in danger. When we lost the ball around 5 mins, Foden strolled over to their player who ran off played a 1,2,3 then passed the KWP & I just knew he'd score. Even after that we were fuckin around as if in a training session!

Only in the 2nd half did we look back to our normal self, but we huffed & puffed but thankfully got the equaliser. We had em on the rack until around 78 mins, & then we seemed to tire. We just didn't have that extra gear & the minute or two when we waited for the KDB penalty decision seemed to finish us off.

Southampton gained their 2nd wind, & started flying into challenges, & we just couldn't find this mythical higher gear we're supposed to possess. We were the architects of our near downfall & we've GOT to stop fuckin around playing walking football at the beginning of matches.

Contrast & compare how we started against Chelsea, & tonight?? We literally got what we deserved for a shit first half, where it seemed we thought all we had to do was turn up & collect 3 points. It's the fuckin Premier League, & there are no totally shit teams anymore!!

The only plus was the point, which could be crucial come the end of the season. I'm fuckin pissed the fuck off! Rant over. :-(
Fuck sake mate we're top of the league and we've just won 12 on the trot. Chin up, eh?

Is VAR not used for free kicks? The decision was that the foul was outside the box, that would have been a great position for a KDB set piece.

We played awful in the first half. You know we did?! 2nd half, better. Especially when Sterling went off, though I aint a sterling hater.
We didn't play awfully first half. There was minimal sloppy passing, we were all over them, the last 10 minutes was played outside their penalty area, and we were a bad Sterling miss from going in at the break level.

That 1st half was significantly better than the home game v Southampton, or the 1st half vs Arsenal, or the 2nd half vs Leicester, where we really did have problems and looked bad.
