Southampton (A) - Post Match Thread

pelters criticism are the same thing really ? abuse in any form is wrong
but a footballers life and getting well paid sort comes with the package of knowing you will get pelters from somebody even from some of your home fans.

sterling knows better than anybody else after that miss he was going to get criticize by everybody ? he will be the first to step and say he should be knocking that in and he understand that the criticism is a fair point as long it does not cross the line and taken to far
Agree he should have scored, there is no argument really is there, and he deserves some flack for not doing, but the match day thread often seems to be a forum for the Sterling haters to hover waiting for a chance to pile on, and it's that level/sort of criticism which is wrong and is neither justified (because he's a high paid footballer) or beneficial. Not having a go at you and not picking out anyone specifically, but just commenting on the pretty toxic atmosphere that is in there sometimes

sadly that is part of the game ?

you don't want to take away criticism and i will hold my hands up and say yes i do go over the top ? but i never cross the line and turn it into abuse that is the key ? players will open heartily say ok we all can take criticism and it can be fair and we understand. but abuse well there no room for that

He was crap.

The entire team were for 45 minutes and only Kev dragged us a point.

Grealish should not be in the team ahead of Gundo right now and spent much of yesterday's game deferring to others.
Was there, Sterling was dog pump, Grealish, I hope he is still learning to adapt, the 1st half City were asleep.

2nd half started to take it to Southampton, length of VAR stoppages disrupted City a bit.
Getting into that ground is a nightmare and a lot of their stewards are bell ends.

Their fans were actually celebrating like they'd just won a cup final at the final whistle

Harder for those who made the journey to watch that opening 45 minutes.

Grealish isn't doing anything wrong, he's just not doing much right, either.

I'm a big fan, but think Gundo being back in the team would improve us in the final third right now.

Jack just needs time and sure his big moment will come.

We are so lucky to have the opportunity to watch the best footballing team in Europe. Our players have proved in recent years that they are fantastic fighters when it comes down to a close finish. The team has been amazing under pressure so let's enjoy the forthcoming battle. The only reservation I have is whether the age old question of a proper striker will bite us in the end. Our front 3 yesterday was Foden, Sterling and Grealish. Liverpool's normal front 3 is Salah, Mane and Jota...three top strikers.

I think it's gonna be one hell of a race to the title... come on City.

another one who doesn't understand VAR's remit ffs how many years has it been in place???
Another one who hasn't read/understood my post properly. I know full well that VAR doesn't re-ref possible free kicks - I was commenting on the fact that there was no debate by anyone - pundits/commentators as to whether or not a foul had occurred, but where it occurred - inside or outside the area. My post was lamenting the issue that in this situation you either get 'all' - the penalty, or 'nothing' - not even a free kick on the edge of the box. My comment was a criticism of VAR and its application.
