Southampton Post Match Thread

Just been browsing the RAWK thread from last night, they are choking with bitterness and delusion

City were lucky
Ref was paid off
Injury time was a joke (none of them even watched the fecking game)

Some of them are even under the impression they're challenging for the title

Problem with Dippers is they think the season ends in April , it certainly will this year.

Needs must. They're not the first tem to install those tactics going up against superior opposition and they won't be the last. I thought they got it spot on and I don't think they were as defensive as Pep made out. They had the right kind of balance if you want to get anything from us and arguably had the best chances.

All the better for us for getting through it.

I swear some people watch a different game to me. Nathan Redmond was man marking Fernandinho for those last 15 minutes. He's a fucking striker! They had no intention of winning the game, the chances were set pieces.

And they were cheating, as well.

Vile c### got exactly what they deserved. Fuck all

Set-pieces are a valuable part of the game. Do goals not count the same if they come from a corner? Nathan Redmond is a midfielder and Charlie Austin was on the pitch then, so what's your point? Putting ten men behind the ball is nothing new and considering the run we're on it's fully understandable. The time wasting is a separate issue and something the ref should have stomped out a lot earlier but again these are tactics we have to get used to.

Southampton deserved fuck all mate...time wasting twats...every goal kick and throw in took ages.
They dived and conned the ref constantly...it was poetic justice that Raz scored in the time added on for their time wasting.
This all day long...!!!

I wonder if Raheem's little sighter earlier in the second half helped with his goal, it was from a similar part of the penalty area if I recall correctly, but Id had a few by then. The time Ferna was penalised for slightly touching the ever so theatrical Forster when they both went for a ball and Raheem scored but the whistle went for a soft foul. Would be yet more poetic justice if so.

Glad for a win but a couple of questions, because we were sloppy at times would Southampton have got a result if they attacked more ?
Our stats still showed about 70% possession and because of this a lot of shots on goal yet only 2 goals from those efforts.

Would we really have scored more last night if they had attacked us ? Our clinical play was at times missing.

They might have done, as the City defenders were all having a fucking nightmare. Or we might have scored 5. Itwould have made no difference to Southampton, to have tried to be 'solid' & score, rather than play that cynical, pathetic fucking shite.

They chose to play anti football, to a level we only used to see by non League sides in the FA Cup (because they didn't have the ability to do anything else) & whilst Huddersfield, who have a set of players wouldn't get in most PL teams reserves, have an excuse, Southampton, who have a decent squad, have no fucking excuse whatsoever.

They are receiving a shitload of money to produce a product which is broadcast around the world.

It's one thing being cautious & trying not to overcommit players, it's quite another, to turn up with the express intent of ruining a game of football.

Wankers.

Dude. Your full of shit.

How can one team with 70 odd per cent of the ball give more free kicks away than a team with 20 odd per cent - I guess it can happen but statistically tough. Thought the ref was very weak. If he’d made it clear early on time wasting wouldn’t be tolerated- things would have been okay but he positively encouraged Southampton and the game suffered as a consequence of his ineptitude. That vile **** Long wasted 5 minutes of the game on his own diving like a tart.
we press really fast, our midfielders and wingers are not defensive players except ferna , our midfielders specialise in attack and aren't the best at tackling so give fouls away ,simple really
saw a stat that said we foul the 2nd in the league most on oppo transitions that's why we have a lot of fouls.
just found the stats on an article
