He's from Banks, a village in Lancashire, according to the news. It's only four miles from Southport so he could be a regular in the town.

I wonder if he knew some of the victims then and whether its a revenge attack of some sort.
I'd have thought if someone wanted to make a maximum impact, one would go on the rampage in the town centre where most families would be.

Couldn’t agree more, me and my wife did our hypno birthing at that venue, and we spent 5 weeks with our little boy in the ICU at the same hospital the children are at, all I can think about is how the families must be feeling, what waiting rooms they will be sitting in and even the rooms at Ronald McDonald house that are both the worst hotel room you can imagine and a massive help. Meanwhile on Twatter the Tommy Robinson brigade are sharpening there pitch folks and stoking the fire.

Tbh, I don’t think there’s really any point in speculating what his motives might have been. Just have to wait until the facts emerge. I presume that we’ll get another police update tomorrow.

Not at all that this about them, this is the worst atrocity affecting everyone, but the emergency services with coppers and paramedics attending this need thoughts too. They wouldnt have been allowed in to do their jobs either at first, which is the instinct, until the armed police had been sure the knife threat to everyone was dealt with and secured to let them do their work, and God only knows what they must have encountered when they got in there. RIP to the two little ones. I hope all the injured make a full recovery. Can't begin to imagine the feelings of those who were there and their families.

Always ask yourself would you watch your child killed by the state and agree with it if they committed the ultimate heinous crime. It soon brings folk back down to earth.

Fanatics would also probably welcome the chance of martyrdom, so not really a deterrent to such lunatics.
