My daughter is a frequent user of the premises where this happened, taking dance classes and using the dance studio to practice every week, today she was at work when this happened, when she stays at her mum's she can see it from her bedroom window. Her mum and younger half brother were out of Southport visiting family today, they decided to stay overnight. My daughter went to her mum's to feed her cats, when I called her to talk today she was in the bedroom crying.
I live in the french countryside now but how I wish I could have been there to hug my daughter today.

Ffs, that's very profound, really brings it home how precious and fragile life is, it happens to "other people" until it doesn't, so sad, really devastating.

Heartbreaking it really is heartbreaking how this can happen. If what happened today doesn't change knife crime laws then nothing will. RIP LITTLE ONES.

That is reality and I imagine that was a difficult post to type. Good man

I can’t begin to comprehend what those affected households are going through tonight. Or what's ahead of them in the coming days. Sleep well, little ones.
When someone close to you dies there can be a little comfort from the grief if you know, say, that they'd been ill and the end of a life was a release or if they'd already had a long life and a good one. But these are children and the grief for the poor parents will wake them shrieking in the nights for a long time. May God, or somebody, help them.

Many on here, and in the public in general, have vilified the police over the past few days. But when something as terrible as this happens we expect them, and they do, to react and resolve the situation. Whist we run away from the incidents they run towards it. Those who have been bad mouthing the police should do some deep soul searching.
My thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this terrible occurrence. RIP

What changes would have prevented this?
Don’t know our prisons are full already but if you were caught with a knife serve 5 years no excuses course that would mean stop and search. PS I carry a knife every day for work purposes so i know there are some exceptions. Still wouldn’t have stopped this atrocity.

In the Airport thread there was a lot of speculation and confusion. A lot of backtracking ensued.
Is the same happening here?
We really need to wait until the facts come out rather than speculation. IMHO.
As usual, Ms. S., a voice of reason and sanity.
As quite often (seeing the pages that follow) one that's not fully heeded.
