If England don't win on Sunday, he will not be anymore successful than Taylor, Venables, Robson or Hodgson. Success is measured by how much silverware you lift, nothing more, nothing less. If he does win, then he's perhaps only slightly second to Ramsey, purely for the fact that a World Cup is a bigger trophy than the European Championship.

Very good post though, I enjoyed reading it.
No more successful than Taylor? LOL

Question for the guys and girls with long memories.

When is the last time England won a match as an underdog in a major tournament?

Only two I could think of was against Argentina in the group stages of 2002. And against Holland in 1996.

But I'm not sure we were even underdogs at the time in these two fixtures?
As a clearcut underdog, probably 2002 against Argentina is about right. If Netherlands in 1996 is disputed, I actually can't think of them ever winning a tournament game as an underdog in the past 40 years.

It was a soft penalty which got England back in the game. I am sticking by it. I would be livid if that was against City and I would call it soft if we (City) got the decision.
You can stick by whatever you want, I’ll stick with the real world.

You only know that AFTER the incident, the problem is they change the rules so often nobody knows what is or what not constitutes a foul, even the "expert" on ITV said its NOT a penalty.
One expert said it was, one didn’t.

But the refs and the teams knew the rules. Having said that, it’s never not been a foul and/or penalty in Europe
