Spanish Mundo ABC: Mourinho made a deal vith Manchester City

Am I the only one that doesn't want this twat at our club? I have no doubt that with Mancini we would win the title but he is a disgrace and would drag our club through the mud. You only have to see how he has acted at Real Madrid to know that.

Fotball fans are fickle.

When Mourinho comes and wins you a treble inside his first two seasons (including a league or two and at least a champions league final appearance) there wont be much hatred for him then, I'll be sure of that.

I really hope we don't get mourinho, he is just an arrogant twat who thinks he is special but really he isn't, better off sticking with bobby

So the perception of the club doesn't matter? Most players praise Fergie so I suppose his behaviour is perfectly acceptable also?

The fact that you compare him to Manicin is laughable, a man who sneakily walks behind an opposition manger and pokes him in the eye. Is the person you want representing Manchester City?

I didnt support City on the basis to see silverware, I supported them due to family connections and the fact that they stood for something. If were prepared to sell our soul and hire him then its a very sad day for this club

Lets not get too high & mighty here; there have have been plenty of characters (on and off the field) in our clubs past who have not always behaved as they should. I don't see the point in trading individual incidents for 'morality' (poke in the eye vs cigar in the eye etc etc),

I also started supporting for family reasons, but What do you mean you supported the club cos they "stood for something" ? What, tell me, did city stand for exactly over and above every other football club. I'll go & get a hanky to wipe away the tear from my eye whilst you compose your reply.

No need for the hanky pal and you're correct we have had many an unsvaoury character in the past, but if we have a choice do we have to acquire an unsavoursy character again, does that justify doing it in the future.

We have a manager widely respected for his behaviour, his humility and who is proving successful. Why would you want to change that.

Yes City stood for something to me, they were the polar opposities of United a club steeped in arrogance, intimidating refs, divine right of the fans to win, belittling supporters of other clubs, it made my support for City to strengthen, along with the camaraderie of the fans.

I have waited along time for success for me personally it will be tainted if we show now humilty in victory. Hope your eyes are not too sore

Thanks for the response mate, a good one. I feel a lot of what your saying here as well, and especially growing up I always wanted to feel we were "better" than utd and we did things in the right way (they were called the red devils cos they were evil I remember being told by me grandad when I was a kid). Taking them out of it though, for me, the truth is that city aren't that different to many other football clubs across the land, most of which have a long and proud history, and have had all sorts of people both as employees and as fans over the years.

I suppose I just don't think Mourinho is that much of a problem, and all this talk of "selling our soul" is a bit OTT. I still think we can behave with dignity as a club with him as our manager. The incident you quoted vs Barca was bad, but other managers have done similar on the touch line - and life goes on. He doesn't "offend my morality" that much I wouldn't have him here ASAP if Mancini stumbles this summer

A quick question, do you think we would be in a better or worse position with Mourinho as manager?

Personally, I don't think we would have been beaten by Utd in the cup and I certainly don't think Sporting Lisbon would have knocked us out of the Europa League. Our away form is nothing short of shit and although Mancini has done a good job(wining the fa cup is something I will never forget) you cannot blame the owners for looking for alternatives as the job has been good not great.

I'd love to see us win the league with Mancini, I just don't think we will. Mourinho is a great manager and if he is available then we should go for him. If he does come and is successful but leaves after 3 or 4 years we will be in a great position to hire the best manager at that time, hopefully that will be Uwe!!

I'm nicking DD's line - but if Mourinho came to City, by the end of his first press conference he'd have every City fan on earth eating out of the palm of his hand.

I love the way so many Blues keep peddling the "he's an arrogant twat" line, as if Mancini is some sort of humble shrinking violet.
