Fotball fans are fickle.

When Mourinho comes and wins you a treble inside his first two seasons (including a league or two and at least a champions league final appearance) there wont be much hatred for him then, I'll be sure of that.

yep, just like half of the forum already eats from Tevez's palm after one assist

Yep. See my comment just a couple down from the one you have just quoted.

He'll get the phone call = he'll be in charge of us next season
He wont get the phone call = stays at Real

We hold the cards this time.........................
There's a third scenario. He makes the phone call....

What happens if there is an engaged tone? ;-)
A postcard.

"Dear Sheikhy. Wish I was there. Can't get decent chips in Madrid. Love, J."

Much appreciated mate. I actually wrote it once but lost it when my internet inexplicably crashed. In the rewrite I left out one point.

At Madrid he has his own players briefing against him in the press because they don't like his tactics. When that happened to Mancini he shipped the players out and everyone on here was firmly behind him for doing that. Mourinho has zero hope of shipping out the players who are briefing against him as it's the Spanish contingent. That's a no win situation for him and its little wonder that he's considering getting the fuck out.

I assume you are alluding to Cook/Valdano. However there is a difference between behind the scenes posturing and the constant bad press Mourinho has attracted to Madrid.

Talking to a Madrid supporter today and he's not bothered whether Mourinho goes or not. Obviously he sees his managerial quality but he doesn't like the general mayhem surrounding the club since Jose has been there. As he says, and he's not alone, it's all about Mourinho.

Discussion of Mourinho's character and his "ways" is always interesting. I think it's unfair to talk about the mayhem at Madrid, and at Inter previously, without giving it some context. He was loathed in Italy from the day he arrived for no other reason that he wasn't Italian and was managing one of the preeminent Italian clubs. He was given zero respect. Yes, he's an arrogant loudmouth in press conferences, but i still believe his treatment by the general footballing establishment there was shoddy. They were lucky to have a manager of his talents managing in that league at a time when it was at one of it's lowest ebbs. Hell, our resident Inter troll loathes Mourinho and takes any and every opportunity to take a swipe at him. This is a guy who won them the much coveted CL as well as continuing Mancini's tradition of winning the league at a relative canter.

At Madrid it's a different set of politics. The mayhem is caused by the insanity of the situation. Madrid loathe Barcelona. Mourinho loathes Barcelona. Barcelona are supposedly the "best team ever". Yet even with the insanity Madrid sit six points clear at the top of the league and have one foot in the CL semi final. All this with the mayhem as a backdrop. And yet still some Madrid fans don't like him. That club just love shooting itself in the foot.

I've said a number of times - when it comes time to find a successor for Mancini, I'd prefer the club were more progressive and looked at someone like Jurgen Klopp from Dortmund. Mourinho isn't my first choice at all. However, those are personal reasons and I would never sit here and yell and scream about how I don't want him because he's arrogant or he causes chaos or he'll only be here for a few years. I can see he's the best in the business and if he came City would almost certainly dominate domestic and possibly European football for his entire tenure.

A lot of Mourinho's behaviour is just him playing games and deflecting attention from his players. I don't like how he behaves at times but he is the best manager in the game as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather that Mancini succeeded or that we replaced him with Guardiola but Pep is unproven outside of the very special place he currently finds himself in. City need short-term success to aid their long-term goals and Mourinho should, IMO, be the first choice to succeed Bobby. As of today, I do not think that City should get rid of Bobby if they cannot get Pep or Jose to replace him and my personal opinion is that neither will be prepared to join City this summer but a lot can happen in six weeks...

I should add I have not given up on Bobby leading City to the title and making it nigh on impossible to sack him.

He already has........we already know what he wants

If (and it's a big if) Mancini leaves City, I would much rather have Guardiola than Mourinho.

The issue is why are we even discussing a successor, Mancini has more than lived upto expectations, in two months time we could be celebrating our first chamiponship since 1968, yet some fans are saying we should swap him at the end of the season.

There was time when City fans used to mock and taunt United fans, when they use to call Giggs shit, phone forums and slate Ferguson after a couple of defeats yet here we are talking about changing a manager when we could be 8 games away from the championship.

Respect and loyalty is widely discussed on this forum particular in relation to Tevez etc. Yet people want to sack a manager after all he has achieved at the club. Loyalty and respect is a two way street
