Special one not coming then

Yes there have been talks, meetings and cards are now on the table for all parties involved.

It still doesn't mean that he will be City's manager come next season as that requires Mourinho to be fired by Real.

If that does happen watch this space.

And you're welcome, in advance.
Cheers pal, but are you sure that Real are happy with us talking to Jose midway through the season?

I would have thought that he may have been approached by a 3rd party again and they've sent info back to the club as to what his thinking is, but nothing concrete.

As for being sacked by Real, even if they don't win the league or CL, then I can't see them wanting to pay the severance fee and have to look for a manager who will clearly be below the standard of Mourinho. And he's said that he won't walk, so?

Just my thoughts mate.

I agree with you and that is why nobody is saying anything more specific than that tbh.

Those in denial of such things of course make plenty of the fact that others cannot produce a copy of a pre-contract agreement and in my eyes that stamps them out as naive at best.

It has been a bit more than arms length third party stuff but still has plausible deniability at its root.

Mourinho's own words make it very clear that he wants to be distanced from City (or indeed any other club).

I reckon just as Real wont want the massive bill for sacking him City dont want the same bill for poaching him - it is forever so - but an accommodation may be made once Real have a desire to move on.

Mourinho wont push his luck this time though. That is something I have been told, have PM'd some already and is fact.

Do you mean that he won't try to use us as leverage again to get another position?

That's misleading . Noone really knows where Jose will be next season. I suspect he has an idea but that's about it.

There is no deal with city in place , let's get that straight

I never sad there was a deal.

I said that everyone knows the score.

And what needs to happen and when.

"Many a slip 'twix cup and lip" of course.

You are usually at pains to stress you are not ITK. Whats changed. I suspect nothing and your wumming as seems to be your recent proclivity.

-- Thu Apr 14, 2011 10:28 pm --

The point is, it's not hard. Too easy in fact. I get bored.

Perez has time. A few jibes about trophies don't bring the elections forward. Like you say he wants the big prize.

And Mourinho is his best chance of it.

There is need to act and no better option.

I was about say this until I read your post!

How absolutely foolish would it be for Real to rid themselves of the self proclaimed 'Special One' when there is nobody better qualified to win the club honours as him?? Regardless of what happens, this season, he'll be given at least one more year to succeed.

To Real, there is only downward quality from this man, so they will grin and bear this season to get somewhere next.

Mourinho will have to walk or be sacked, and I can envisage neither scenario after one year in charge. What will happen is a clear out of players to fund the next chapter.

I think this is pretty much the picture and the hopers will be disappointed, yet again.

Surely they could go for Mancini as many on here seem to rate him better than Mourinho?

Sarcasm is, indeed, apt at times.

However, as long as Real see JM as the best, all else is irrelevant.

What ifs, what ifs, what ifs!!

Name me an ACTUAL time he's ever walked from a contract and then I can go with your 'what if' situations!

Err, was his contract at Inter up last summer?

"After days of discussions between Real Madrid and Inter, a record breaking compensation package was successfully agreed on 27 May 2010, and Mourinho was consequently released by Inter"

He didn't actually walk away from it. Real wanted him and they paid Inter the fee. He's never resigned a position yet.

well isnt that the same way any manager moves on.... ?? he had a contract until 2012

and before he took the real job a good portion of the board wanted Figo, so maybe they do think they have better options.

He wont resign from anywhere, why would he when he can get a fat payoff from the compensation.

Now if you go back and read my earlier posts you'll see I don't think Mou will leave Real this summer - BUT - you can't argue he didn't walk away from the Inter job. The bottom line is that Inter paid the compensation - and if he wants to come to City - City will pay the compensation. In both scenarios he walked out on a club.

'Walking away' essentially means resigning his position. He didn't do that, his contract was bought out.

Inter could have said 'no' and we would have seen whether Mourinho would have walked, I, myself, doubt it as he seems to play on the terms of 'dignity'.

It may be splitting hairs, but there IS a difference, like it or not.

Give it up and have some faith in our current manager. We should all be cheering him on until the moment he is actually gone.

I like the guy and think he has shown glimpses of building a very tight refined team. Once we win something we'll be seeing a whole new team and I think that will really bring everyone in the dressing room together.

Despite the protestations of some supposed ITK's he never was coming, he was, is, and only ever will be, interested in one job near Manchester. In 10 weeks time it may just become available if the sour one gets his treble.

Yeah, your beloved Mancini may get the sack anytime as well. LOL.

It is quite CLEAR Mancini ACCEPTED to be the new manager before the official announcement of sacking of Sparky, even though his appointment was not official yet.

That is unethical.
Hogwash. It's not unethical at all. And before you start whining at me, I'm a Mourinho fan... and if we're able to hire him we best do it before firing Mancini.
Actually if that's the case, it is unethical.

I remember this topic of ethics being discussed on Espn in america. Granted even though it was about american football, everyone thought that speaking to (not even hiring yet) a 'coach' while another one held the position was disgusting. Same concept, regardless of sport. That's like spitting in somebody's face.
