Speed awareness course

Had to do a Driver Awareness Course at Carrington a few years back. Full day - boring but learnt some stuff I didn't previously know, along with some stuff pointed out to me that I'd been executing wrong. Was pretty much just like having a day in the car with the ex.

I just got done for doing 47 in the outside lane of the M60 going east around Worsley. The only safe place on that stretch is in the outside lane .The overhead speed display went 60 then 50 I slowed down and when it dropped to 40 there was no congestion...Money making racket.

Speedometers are set by manufacturers to read a couple of MPH faster than the vehicle is traveling anyway so any one who gets pulled in a 30 MPH zone needs to look at them selves.

Wouldn't it be better if they looked at the speedo? - And the road of course.

However how would a motorist know what the legal distance of street lights are when driving down a road before knowing what my speed to do without any signs?

Not a barometer of anything is it. If it was then car insurance would be unaffordable. The issue is a residential street with streetlights is 30mph and nobody needs signs to know that because signs tell you when it is anything different to 30. Simples

Works out at about three quid a year for your course or one point every ten years on the licence then. I spend more than that on Tampax and I'm a bloke.

Im sure I was taught that you could go travel at plus 10% of the speed limit without any issue. So 33 in a 30. Etc. Ive never been caught seeding and have applied that rule for 30 years.

Not strictly true. You can be prosecuted for doing 1 mph over the limit. There's nothing in the law that gives leeway, 10% or otherwise.

Not a waste of time exactly, I'm on 3 also but I do think that it should be part of the driving test. I just don't listen.....
