Just as a matter of interest exactly how far have you gone to escort a spider off your premises?
Yards? The length of 2 or 3 houses? The next street?

Just picked one up to shuffle into the garden and his diameter with legs matched about 75% of my palm with fingers. I found him because i could hear him above the noise of the tv. Only just but his feet tapped on the wallpaper and it was very audible, the big old bugger.

I put him under some rockery that is always south facing so hopefully nice and warm at night for him.
