Spiders

Im out of this thread before some arsehole starts posting pictures of the weird hairy bastards

Interesting fact about Spiders.....every year in the colder months Spiders usually do away with about 90% of hibernating queeen wasps, so without our 8 legged allies we would have the most incredible plagues of wasps every summer, so next time your enjoying a pint in a sunny beer garden raise a glass to the spiders.

Still doesn't make them right. I've had conkers in my house for a few years now, haven't seen a spider in that duration, until this year. Thrown the conkers and its like they've all came out to play at once. Had one the width of the palm of my hand a couple of weeks ago. Biggest house spider I've ever seen, easily. I'm off travelling around Oz in a few months, hopefully I don't come across a huntsman. I'd rather die than confront one of them.

If your going to OZ its quite likely you will come across Huntsmen, and if not those there are plenty of others that are somewhat larger than those you find here. Must confess years ago I was a bit nervous of them, went travelling in the far east and quite simply had to get over any lingering fear very quickly indeed when i found a tarantula on the wall next to my bonce on waking up in a jungle bungalow about 2 days after getting there.

Several years ago we were holidaying in a villa on St Lucia in the Caribbean. Late afternoon I went inside to have a shower and freshen up. The shower was over the bath,so after stripping off I put one foot into the bath without paying too much attention. As my other leg was swinging over the edge of the bath I happened to look into the bath and there about 4 inches from my standing foot was a great big hairy tarantella.

I was out of the bath and the bathroom like a bullet out of a gun.

Memories of that event come back to haunt me frequently and even now whilst describing the experience I can feel my heart start to race.

Only once ever bothered me,was staying at the Sea Captain hotel in Clearwater Beach, went in the bathroom flicked the light on and this big fucker is sat on the rug staring at me,normally they'd run off,not this one.
Had to let the geezer on reception know while I went for a beer.
