Spiders

Just the bird eating spider you want to see then is it :-D

I have handled both the Pink toed bird eater and the Goliath, have to say I was slightly pensive as both whilst pretty harmless in so much as they are no more poisonous than a bee, do have bloody big sharp fangs and both can be aggressive and are not generally recommended as pets for someone who wants a Tarantula to handle.

Generally its the smaller ones that have a nasty bite, indeed the false widows that are now common in the UK are worse than Tarantulas in terms of a bite. Still no worse than a bee really, but can require some medical treatment if you are unlucky.

I don't mind them in the house really,my cat will go and sit in front of one when she finds them then i use my spidey catching gadget and put them outside or in the spare room,no drama at all

No, it's the cat you put outside !

Do spiders make any sounds? reason I ask is years ago I was upstairs and suddenly became aware of what I thought was a faint high pitched note.
Glanced along the landing and there was a huge one near the bathroom doorway, probably a house spider, standing up on the tips of its legs and swaying from side to side, I've wondered if this was some kind of courtship / looking for a mate behaviour.
Anyway, out it went !

I reckon it was calling you a c*nt.

If your going to OZ its quite likely you will come across Huntsmen, and if not those there are plenty of others that are somewhat larger than those you find here. Must confess years ago I was a bit nervous of them, went travelling in the far east and quite simply had to get over any lingering fear very quickly indeed when i found a tarantula on the wall next to my bonce on waking up in a jungle bungalow about 2 days after getting there.

Thanks for the feedback, just ripped up my ticket.

I had a spider fighting pit for a couple of weeks in my bath this summer, just give them no route of escape eg an over hanging towel and let them battle it out, I got up to about 10 at one point, a tap on the side of the bath and they all started scuttling around and fighting ensued, something to watch while having an Ertha Kitt.
