Sporting CP (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

After an absolute shit show of misplaced passes from kdb at the final whistle he stomped straight to the coaches and a heated debate took place .for reference KDB was an absolute embarrassment tonight.
At least he was trying to make things happen, I'm sure playing more 5 yard passes backwards or sideways was just what we needed.

He's not played in fucking ages, he's the one hope for this team creatively speaking, because nobody else can see a pass or is willing to take a risk.

He played 9 minutes after a spell out injured and by all accounts isn’t fit yet either. What were you expecting him to do?

Solly March has the same injury and he’s not played since September 2023 and there’s no signs he’s anywhere near ready to come back yet.
Generally it’s a 9 month recovery post op so unless it’s worse than said he will be back on schedule

Silvinho and doku, headless chickens with no football brains between them, take three on and then crumble at the final hurdle
Doku gets what 15 mins tonite after coming on as a sub and we still see posts like this, we have bigger problems than Savinho and Doku, maybe question our midfield n defence

Feels like 16/17 all over again, pep has not been backed at all in the transfer window and it’s causing devastating consequences. People thought my criticism of the squad was hyperbole after the Bournemouth game, well unfortunately I’ve been proven correct.

The simple fact is despite having arguably the greatest manager of all time, our squad is so poor I do not believe we will get Top 4 this season unless we sign at least 2 players in the Jan transfer window.
Yes, we need two players. A defensive midfielder and a right back.

Not including shoot outs when is the last time an opponent missed a pen against us
Richarlson for Everton I think. Would love to know how many we have conceded in all competitions, just out of curiosity. I mean, no one has hit a post or bar, shot wide or a fluke save. Its quite bizzare.

There was a time we had a peak Gundogan on the bench. Now we’re starting a past it Gundogan in most games.

What I cannot understand is how our midfield has been so neglected. We all know that the midfield is the engine of a Pep team, yet our current midfield without Rodri is distinctly average.

De Bruyne was here before Pep, Pep’s been here 9 years, and De Bruyne remains out most creative player by some distance. Don’t get me wrong, Kev is an elite player, but he’s way beyond his peak.

We’ve also replaced efficient players like Mahrez and Sterling who would chip in with huge goals, with Doku, Grealish and Savinho who offer very little stats wise.
What did Sterling offer in his first two years at the club? He looked like a kid playing with men.

Embrace the adversity. Most of us have seen it, lived through it and come out the other side better for the experience.
There’s a lot of our fanbase who will never relate to that and have known only good times.
Believe me, it makes you appreciate things much better when things go pear shaped after success.
We are going through it at the moment, on and off the field. The next few months are going to be seismic and it’s probably a good time to rally round and show a bit of support for a group who have made all our dreams come true in the last few years.
When we were a yoyo team, we got to visit some of the lesser clubs in the country. I for one found it very enjoyable.
